The role

The energy transition requires safe, reliable, and future-proof business locations, as well as information that employees and management can use to steer. Within the Real Estate & Facility Management department, we work on a professional management organization for data and control centers, offices, warehouses, and other business-critical locations. Will you contribute to this as an Information Manager?

The department has grown significantly in recent years, both in terms of organizational size and the real estate portfolio. Valuable information products have emerged, such as standardized project reports, SAP solutions for maintenance, Power BI dashboards, and SharePoint setups. Many of these emerged bottom-up and are dependent on specific individuals. The next step is coherence in data, applications, documentation, KPIs, and management information, so that information management grows from isolated initiatives into a structural management process.

As an Information Manager, you create central control and structure in the department's information landscape. You connect the information needs of the business with data, applications, and business processes, and ensure that decision-making is supported by reliable, unambiguous, and timely information. You get the basics in order while simultaneously building sustainable control over information management.

As an Information Manager, you develop and secure the coherent way of working for information management within Real Estate & Facility Management. In doing so, you combine control with execution power: you do not only organize, but you also personally take on analyses and improvement products and ensure visible progress.

What you'll do

You will work in the department's staff team, consisting of approximately ten colleagues in the fields of policy, performance, finance, communication, strategy, information management, and management support. Together, you ensure that the operational teams can focus entirely on their core work. An informal, collegial, and result-oriented working atmosphere prevails within the team, in which individual initiative and collaboration are central.

You receive a mandate from the management team to steer information management across the department. You set frameworks, monitor coherence, prepare decision-making, and organize ownership, without taking over the substantive responsibility of the teams. An initial overview of ongoing initiatives and a starting point for a consultation structure and roadmap already exists. You will expand this into a permanent, non-person-dependent setup with a compact information vision, explicit ownership, and an initial information architecture, after which the focus shifts to data quality and integrated control.

You work closely with the management team, business owners, and users within the teams, colleagues in the fields of data, information provision, processes, and IT, the TenneT-wide Data & Analytics Enabling Functions team, and external suppliers. The role requires visibility within the organization and the ability to advance cross-team subjects.

Furthermore, you are also responsible for, among other things:

  • Control of information management: you create one overview of ongoing and planned initiatives and set up a workable consultation and decision-making structure with a fixed quarterly cycle. You monitor coherence, priorities, dependencies, and follow-up, and you prepare choices for the management team regarding priority and whether to stop, continue, or start.
  • Information and application landscape: you map out the current and desired landscape of applications, data, and information flows. You identify overlap, gaps, and risks and translate these into concrete recommendations, a compact information vision, and a development roadmap.
  • Management information and KPIs: you help realize uniform definitions, data foundations, and reports. You connect the information needs of the management team and the teams to reliable KPIs, dashboards, and management reports.
  • Data quality, architecture, and documentation: you improve the quality, findability, and control of information and documentation. Together with Data & Analytics Enabling and IT architects, you develop source ownership and the information architecture, so that information products are not based on different realities.
  • Governance and ownership: you ensure clear roles, responsibilities, decision-making lines, and escalation paths regarding information provision. For each information product, you establish a business owner, support them in their role, and help management and teams make transparent, traceable choices.
  • Improvement initiatives and chain partners: you direct, among other things, SharePoint, DataGrow, and other relevant initiatives. You prevent duplicate work, connect parallel developments, and help to actually implement improvements. Towards IT and external suppliers, you translate the information need into clear questions and provide substantive input to contract management.
  • Transfer and securing: you develop a sustainable way of working that is not dependent on individuals. You document processes, overviews, standards, and agreements, and ensure that knowledge and ownership are properly transferred and assigned.

At TenneT, we are looking for a director with execution power. You provide overview and direction, but you do not wait around: you convert analyses into concrete products and tangible improvements. You are connecting and bridge the worlds of business, data, IT, processes, and governance by building common agreements. You are pragmatic and choose simple, workable governance and proportionality; structure is a means for you to achieve results. And you are independent and careful: you monitor quality, coherence, and traceability, and you dare to put points of attention on the agenda in a timely manner, even at the management level.
