Job Title

WO Internship Rabobank Legal

You and your role

Within Rabobank Legal, you will become a full member of a team of lawyers or attorneys and will be involved in a wide variety of activities. It is a great place to gain experience within a broad legal spectrum and also to establish contacts for the future.

Are you currently pursuing a university degree and are you interested in this internship? Then read on quickly! It is good to know that, together with you, we will look for a suitable position within one of the departments. You can join at any time.

As an intern at Rabobank Legal, you will be part of a team within one of our departments.

  • If you intern within Legal Corporate, you will advise and support Rabobank (including its Executive Board and Supervisory Board) and all group entities at home and abroad on issues regarding corporate governance and management, strategic movements (acquisitions, joint ventures, divestments), employment law, and the implementation of (prudential) supervisory laws and regulations (such as EBA Guidelines on internal governance). Additionally, work in the field of 'Contracting & IT' falls under Legal Corporate. These activities consist of drafting and negotiating procurement contracts and providing advice on various IT areas (including artificial intelligence and licensing).
  • If you choose an internship at Legal Retail, you will be challenged broadly: from nitrogen issues to the tax authority's right of precedence. But also from developments in the app to inheritance law issues. From more technical legal work to thinking along about the impact of new legislation on the bank and its customers. So, not only financial law, but especially a lot of Dutch civil law and European regulations that affect Rabobank. Always in relation to customer service by Rabobank. You will work together in the team and with other colleagues within and outside Legal.
  • If you intern within the Legal Projects & Themes department, you will become acquainted with legal issues playing out in a highly regulated and innovative financial environment. During your internship, you will work on one of the central themes within the department, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Crypto, Privacy, FEC, or ESG. Depending on the theme, you might, for example, delve into the legal aspects of new technologies, digital assets, or data protection. At FEC (Financial Economic Crime), the focus lies on identifying customers and managing risks such as fraud and money laundering. If you choose ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance), you will work on issues surrounding sustainable and responsible banking, with attention to the environment, society, and good governance.
  • If you intern at the Litigation & Investigations department, you will support Rabobank's internal law firm (Rabobank Advocaten). The attorneys at Rabobank Advocaten handle and litigate disputes between Rabobank and private and/or business customers (including civil, insolvency, insurance, corporate, and financial law). An internship at Rabobank Advocaten is also among the possibilities!
  • If you intern within Legal Wholesale & Rural - Financial Markets - Products & Regulations, you will support Rabobank in entering into agreements for financial products, such as (OTC) derivatives, securities lending, and repurchase agreements. You will also be involved in the interpretation and bank-wide implementation of various supervisory law topics, including for example EMIR and MIFID II/Mifir.
  • If you choose an internship at Legal Wholesale & Rural Europe & Africa, you will be involved in, among other things, the various financings provided by Rabobank to business customers both at home and abroad. For this, you can think of the financing of acquisitions, working capital, solar and wind farms, real estate, and commodities.
  • If you choose an internship at Legal Wholesale & Rural Group, you will advise and support the departments working on IPOs, national and international share and bond issuances (both for the bank itself and for the bank's customers), receivables finance solutions, and securitizations. Additionally, you will advise and support departments working on various innovative products and services for business customers.

With your talents

Customer orientation, result orientation, analytical ability, and a hands-on attitude are indispensable qualities for this internship. It is important that you meet the following conditions:

  • You are in the final (master's) phase of your law studies (university degree) and expect to graduate within 1 to 2 years. Preferably in a private, procedural, financial, or corporate law specialization; Note: you must be enrolled at a Dutch educational institution for the entire duration of the internship!
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages (NB: for an internship within one of the three Legal Wholesale & Rural teams, command of the Dutch language is not required);
  • You are motivated and show initiative;
  • You enjoy being part of a team, but you can also handle matters independently and know how to apply the legal knowledge acquired in practice.

Together we achieve more than alone. We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together the differences between people makes us an even better bank. We are therefore very curious about what you can bring to the legal department.
