Investment Oversight Manager

Rabo Asset Management (RAAM) is responsible for the management of the 1895 investment funds. A significant part of this execution, including investment management, is delegated to Rabo Investment Office (RIO).

As an Investment Oversight Manager within RAAM, you assess and challenge from the first line the manner in which RIO fulfills the delegated asset management. On behalf of RAAM, you form an independent, substantive judgment regarding the execution and ensure that RAAM maintains sufficient visibility into the quality, results, and key developments within the investment portfolios.

In doing so, you look not only at the realized performance, but especially at the manner in which this is achieved. You analyze performance against benchmarks, assess the investment process, and use relevant portfolio and risk information to assess whether investment strategies and mandates are being executed as intended. You also test whether agreements made, including in the area of ESG, are being properly implemented.

Based on this, you challenge RIO, prepare the periodic investment reviews, and advise the board of RAAM regarding the continuation or adjustment of mandates.

The Investment Oversight Manager is a first-line investment challenge function. You use risk metrics from the perspective of the quality and execution of the investment management. The monitoring of risk limits and the independent assessment of the financial risk profile are assigned to the risk functions within RAAM.

You work closely to the investment content and assess from RAAM how RIO executes the investment strategies and mandates in practice. In doing so, you combine performance and portfolio analysis with substantive challenge, and your findings have direct significance for decision-making regarding mandates.

RAAM is in a building phase. As a result, you will get the opportunity to help shape the way investment oversight is organized and will function in practice within RAAM.

• You provide direction to the further development of the investment oversight framework.
• You assess the performance of portfolios and mandates using benchmarks, portfolio data, and risk metrics.
• You challenge the investment process of RIO and test whether agreements, including ESG agreements, are being complied with.
• You lead periodic investment reviews and signal relevant developments and deviations in the asset management.
• You advise the board regarding mandates and funds based on clear analyses, reports, and insights.

• University (WO) working and thinking level
• Extensive relevant experience within institutional asset management, for example in portfolio management, manager selection, investment analysis, or investment oversight
• Broad knowledge of asset classes, investment processes, and mandate structures
• Experience with performance and benchmark analysis and relevant investment risk metrics
• Translating complex investment issues into clear conclusions and concrete points of attention
• You are able to challenge experienced investment professionals on substance while maintaining a constructive relationship
• Experience with Aladdin Enterprise is a strong plus
• Fluency in speaking and writing Dutch is a requirement
