The role
Are you looking for an internship in a professional and motivating environment? And do you want to develop yourself in the financial sector? Become a Legal intern at ABN AMRO and get to know a dynamic Legal department.
What you'll do
During your internship, you will participate in the daily practice of our lawyers. For example, think of involvement in (complex) negotiations and the drafting of contracts and terms and conditions. Or the development of a new banking product. Or advising the bank on disputes. You will delve into the laws and regulations that the bank deals with and advise on banking products and services. You will map out the bank's risks and help to mitigate them.
Your working environment
The Legal department supports the various business units of the bank. We identify and monitor new laws and regulations and advise the bank on their interpretation and implementation. We are also involved in legal proceedings and analyze relevant case law. Additionally, we provide support for financial transactions and advise on the legal aspects of new banking products and services.
The Legal department currently consists of approximately 160 colleagues and is organized into various units. This internship vacancy concerns the following Legal unit:
Products
This Legal unit advises the bank on various topics, such as payment transactions (IPR/PSR/PSD3) and privacy (GDPR). Additionally, the unit is involved in the handling of fraud cases, the termination of customer relationships, and the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing. Generic customer processes, customer communication, and general terms and conditions are also topics for which advice is provided daily.
Your profile
You are an enthusiastic, practical, and driven student in the final phase of your studies. You show interest in the financial sector, work well in a team, and have strong analytical skills. You come up with creative solutions and can explain difficult subjects clearly.
What do we ask?
You are in the final phase (preferably the Master's phase) of a university (WO) Law degree at a Dutch university. This degree aligns with the Legal unit where you wish to complete your internship;
You are enrolled at a Dutch university during your internship period;
You have performed relevant (legal) extracurricular activities or completed internship(s); and
You have good communication skills in Dutch, both oral and written, because we primarily advise on Dutch law.
We offer
A challenging internship in an interesting and dynamic working environment for a duration of two months. In a short time, you will gain broad knowledge of the bank due to the central role of the Legal department. You will intern in a professional but informal culture in which we collaborate well. We would love to introduce you to our organization and our profession.
