• 15–20 years of relevant (international) experience in the financial sector, with a strong focus on payments
• Senior background in legal, risk & compliance within, among others, payment institutions, EMIs, banks, fintechs, or regulators
• Strong knowledge of European and national regulations such as PSD2/PSD3, PSR, EMD2, AMLD, MiCAR, Wft, and Wwft
• Extensive experience with license applications (payment institutions, EMIs, crypto service providers, and possibly banks)
• Demonstrable experience with governance and compliance frameworks and structural interaction with regulators (DNB/AFM; plus: NBB, BaFin, ACPR, FCA)
• In-depth expertise in KYC/CDD, AML/CTF, sanctions, transaction monitoring, FIU processes, screening, and SIRA
• Experience with fraud risk management, policy & procedure development, and internal audits/compliance reviews
• Strong market knowledge of payments, fintech, embedded finance, digital assets, and relevant technological developments (open banking, instant payments, AI)
• Commercially skilled with a relevant network and the ability to identify opportunities and build client relationships
• Analytical, strategic, hands-on, strong communicator, and able to gain trust at executive and board levels
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
