Operations Manager

Are you the Operations Manager who gets energy from optimally running an important warehouse within Kuehne + Nagel? In Zaandam, you will ensure that the desired production is achieved and objectives are met. You have daily leadership over the team within the warehouse. You will work in a fast and dynamic work environment in which you must continuously respond to fluctuations in the sub-processes.

At this site, the returns logistics of the Netherlands' largest retailer are processed according to the customer's wishes. Literally hundreds of trucks are processed through the site per day. Within the Business Unit Returns, we offer a complete package of services to provide peace of mind for the processes surrounding returns logistics and the resulting packaging materials. Our way of organizing returns provides the market with impressive possibilities. Think of receiving, processing, cleaning, and temporary storage of multiple types of logistical load carriers in returning processes, with the goal of making these available again in the right quantities and in the right place in time for use in the next cycle in the supply chain! In this way, our returns processes contribute along multiple axes to the sustainability goals of our customers.

• You have daily leadership over the site's team of supervisors and indirect leadership over all employees within this warehouse. You are also responsible for the (personal) development of the supervisors (and indirectly of all other employees) and the application of the HR policy.

• You ensure the correct execution of the logistical services as agreed upon with the client.

• You are part of the site management team and, together with this team, you are responsible for ensuring the progress of the total logistical flow of goods.

• You monitor the execution of work and the progress of the logistical processes. You coach the supervisors on safety, quality, and productivity.

• You identify continuous points for improvement in (logistical) working methods and procedures to ensure and improve service delivery.

• You participate in projects to optimize business processes in collaboration with various internal departments.

• You follow up on this, implement the newly approved working methods and procedures, and ensure that the guidelines are applied correctly.

• You have a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking.

• You have at least 5 years of all-round operational experience in a production environment, warehouse, or in the supply chain.

• You have at least 3 years of recent and successful leadership experience in a logistical or production environment.

• You have good knowledge of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.

• You are highly organized, stress-resistant, and have a hands-on mentality.

• You have an affinity with technology and automation.
