The role

From our distribution center, trucks supply Jumbo stores in the region daily. Millions of colli to transport weekly or the daily management of many trucks. You don't get cold sweats or chills from those impressive numbers. As a transport coordinator at Jumbo, you always maintain the overview. This way, drivers know exactly what they need to do and our products arrive in the store on time. And most importantly: thanks to you, the customer can continue to enjoy the best Jumbo shopping experience every time.

Turn customers into fans as a transport coordinator
Being a transport coordinator at Jumbo means having your hands firmly on the wheel every day and shifting gears when you think it's best. This means you have a lot of responsibility. You also understand that some decisions have significant consequences in daily practice. You never shy away from that.
You will be busy creating transport plans, transport schedules, and forecasts regarding the expected transport deployment. You also ensure the correct deployment of drivers and logical planning of our own trucks or external transporters. Thanks to your broad knowledge of the transport sector, the geographical area, and even automotive technology, everyone always goes in the right direction.
In this hectic role in our distribution center, you also keep your cool when it comes to tasks such as:

What you'll do

  • Analyzing planning, staffing, and trips. If the situation calls for it, you implement improvements immediately.
  • Solving logistical problems caused by driver absences, truck breakdowns, or other causes. You are able to make the best decisions at that moment.
  • Being present on the work floor. You have a lot of contact with the drivers and also with your colleagues from the loading crew. This way, you know what is happening and you check whether the wishes of one align with the needs of the other.
  • Maintaining worked hours, taken leave, and sickness absence. In short, you are responsible for entering and updating the administration.

Together, entrepreneurship, and winning

, that is our Jumbo DNA, and as a transport coordinator, you take it even further. How? By thinking that the work can be just a little bit better every single day. You are analytical, solution-oriented, and also contribute to structural improvements. You have what it takes to guide, support, and coach your people in this. Communication-wise, you are more than good, because you must not only be able to explain procedures clearly, but also be able to listen well. On the work floor, you know exactly what you want. And you push back towards your supervisor if that is ultimately best for the Jumbo customer. Furthermore, you will come to work with us with:

  • An HBO (higher professional education) level of working and thinking.
  • At least three years of work experience in logistics, the transport sector, or a retail environment is a plus.
  • A good command of the Dutch and English languages. Both orally and in writing.
  • We are looking for a part-time employee for 4-8 hours per week, with possible expansion of hours, who is available on weekends and is potentially open to a night shift.

Responding to your wishes

Being the most customer-friendly company in the world. That means responding to the wishes of the customer and our colleagues. As a transport coordinator, you can therefore also expect something from us. With the Jumbo formula, we make it happen. Because we ensure that you feel good in your skin, have job satisfaction, and grow in your profession. You also receive:

  • A salary between €3,380 and €3,750 gross per month (at Jumbo, we pay every 4 weeks)
  • 25 days off and 8% holiday allowance
  • Targeted training and education within our own Jumbo Academy
  • A bicycle plan
  • The possibility to participate in our collective health insurance
  • 10% discount on all your groceries, which we pay out via your salary. Plus extra benefits in the Jumbo Extra's app.
