Shift Manager (All Genders)

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for production processes and continuous improvement? For our production site, we are looking for a Shift Manager with end-to-end responsibility for the operation within the Operations department. You are the point of contact for your crew and ensure a safe, efficient, and qualitative execution of the production and packaging process. In this role, you will lead both the Cheesery and the Warehouse.

• Leading a crew within a 5-shift system: You are responsible for managing your team during the shift and ensure a safe, efficient, and qualitative execution of the production process.
• Ultimately responsible for production and packaging: During your shift, you are the point of contact for all operational activities and ensure the achievement of production and quality objectives.
• Supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA): You guide and facilitate RCA processes to identify structural problems and implement sustainable solutions.
• Stimulating continuous improvement: You motivate your team to actively think along about process optimization and personally submit improvement proposals based on data and observations.
• Collaborating with internal departments: You maintain close contact with supporting departments such as logistics, quality, technical, and planning to guarantee smooth operations.
• Translating operational knowledge into improvement initiatives: You use your expertise to analyze bottlenecks and develop practical solutions that contribute to efficiency and quality.
• Executing the annual plan: You ensure the execution of the annual plan for your team, as drafted by upper management, and monitor progress and results.
• Reporting to management: You report to the Operations Manager and provide input for strategic decision-making and operational reports.

Employment conditions

• Salary between €3,250 and €4,400 gross per month (full-time), depending on experience and suitability for the role;
• A work week of 32 to 38 hours, 5% year-end bonus, 10% company bonus, 8% holiday allowance, and a pension scheme;
• Hybrid working with flexible working hours, a train pass and/or €0.23 per km (max. 30 km one way);
• 200 hours of leave per year, with the option to buy or sell up to 40 extra hours;

As Shift Manager, you are the Chief of Operations during your shift. You manage a team within a 5-shift system and contribute to improving processes and performance. You work closely with internal departments and report to the Operations Manager.

Coöperatieve Zuivelfabriek Zuidelijk Westerkwartier is located on the old facade of our cheese factory in Marum, Groningen. The cheese factory has been in production since 1918, and we specialize in unique Edam cheese. You know them; the small, spherical red cheese.
