Senior Sustainability Coordinator

Determine our course for the sustainability of our complex hydraulic engineering and infrastructure projects. Just go for it!

In complex projects, you will contribute ideas on how we can construct and maintain the most sustainable (rail)ways, ports, and dikes possible. At the same time, you will advise our staff departments on the sustainability of our business operations and act as a go-to person for less experienced colleagues. You will do this as a senior sustainability coordinator at Boskalis Netherlands.

Within the entire scope of Boskalis Netherlands, you will be involved in projects. Complex projects through, for example, collaboration in a construction team, such as the reconstruction of Het Schouw, where the N235 and N247 intersect. Or through various MCI issues, such as the reinforcement of the IJsselmeerdijk. As early as the tender phase, you will arrive at solutions to limit the environmental impact of our work based on your LCAs and MCI calculations. During the design and realization phases, you will safeguard contract agreements and investigate whether there are more opportunities for sustainability.

Additionally, you will contribute ideas on how we can meet various legislations within Boskalis Netherlands and realize our own sustainability ambitions. You will regularly motivate the business and our partners to look critically at choices in projects and our business operations, and challenge them to go beyond standard solutions. Using your expertise, you will work together with, for example, our Asphalt Lab or with our colleagues in raw materials on how we can use our materials more high-value. Your fellow coordinators will also like to make use of your knowledge and experience. In this way, you help your team to an even higher level.

• Performing LCAs and MCI calculations. With these, you will substantiate your advice for limiting environmental impact in projects and your proposals for the sustainability of our business activities.
• You initiate and implement new possibilities for achieving our sustainability ambitions, for example through the use of emission-free equipment, and circular and nature-inclusive construction. Through collaborations with other parties in the industry, you stay informed about the latest developments. You will proactively contribute what is interesting for Boskalis.
• Together with your buddy—in every project, a colleague serves as your go-to person for both content and process—you help to safeguard the quality of our work.
• Within project teams, but also during sector consultations and as a member of, for example, a committee, you will show yourself to be a true ambassador for sustainability in soil, road, and hydraulic engineering.

This is what you can expect from us:

• A gross monthly salary of € 4049,-- to € 6586,-- based on full-time employment (40 hours).
• A lease car.
• 26 vacation days for full-time employment plus a variable number of roster-free days per year. Additionally, you can purchase extra vacation days. A good pension scheme where Boskalis Netherlands pays most/all of the premiums. This results in more net salary.

You like to roll up your sleeves to proactively make an impact on sustainability themes such as energy and emissions, circularity, and nature-inclusive construction. You translate opportunities and issues into actionable solutions. With your clear way of communicating, you take colleagues along in your innovative and creative ideas. And as a true connector, you guide experts in different disciplines in implementing sustainability.

Furthermore, you have:

• HBO level in a relevant field, such as civil engineering, water management, architecture, environmental technology, or public administration.
• Experience in performing LCAs and MCI calculations.
• A good command of Dutch, which is important because all internal communication and contracts are in Dutch.

You will work together with...

About 17 coordinators in the Sustainability cluster. A dynamic team with a nice mix of different educational and professional backgrounds. We are there for each other and appreciate each other as we are. And we join in informally for sports activities or drinks organized by colleagues. Every month, we dedicate a morning to team and knowledge development. On Mondays and Fridays, we are mostly in the office in Papendrecht. Furthermore, you decide for yourself when you work on location or at home.
