The role

Veenendaal is a vibrant municipality with over 70,000 inhabitants, centrally located on the A12. A young city with a unique history and healthy ambitions. The city is developing rapidly. With impactful challenges, including the Integrated Housing Plan (educational housing and sports facilities), the renovation of the theater, the redesign of the town hall, and the sustainability of social real estate.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead a relatively new and versatile team of approximately 25 professionals within Social Real Estate, Facilities, and Geodesy. Three different disciplines, each with its own dynamics and need for direction. Together, they are committed to the use, management, maintenance, and development of municipal real estate and the management of information and data regarding municipal lands and assets.

The greatest challenge lies in building one team that works together based on a shared ambition. At the same time, you will provide direction to the further implementation of the Integrated Housing Plan (IHP).

You will also be part of the Spatial MT, consisting of six team leaders, project managers, the civil service client, and the Director of Spatial Affairs.

You:

  • provides visible and people-oriented leadership, coaches employees, stimulates talent development, and tackles personnel issues proactively;

  • strengthens the clusters further and ensures that capacity within the team is well-organized;

  • manages good and firm client management towards colleagues from other teams;

  • maintains an overview of politically-administratively sensitive dossiers and knows when your involvement is required;

  • stimulates cooperation within and outside the team and is transparent about what is needed to achieve results and professionalize;

  • monitors quality, planning, finances, and results, including the coordination of the planning and control cycle.

You will join a versatile team of dedicated professionals, diverse expertise, and varying leadership needs.

In addition, you have:

  • solid leadership experience within a government context;

  • a facilitating leadership style and attention to professional development;

  • the ability to create connections and to weigh interests in a careful and balanced manner;

  • a sense of the dynamics and the stakeholder management field in the spatial domain and social real estate;

  • firmness when situations demand it.
