Lead the teams behind our software

You translate business goals into concrete roadmaps and team objectives, set priorities together with your colleagues and monitor progress. You'll work closely with our Product Managers and other colleagues to make this happen. Is a team or colleague stuck? Then you help remove obstacles. This could mean making decisions, helping colleagues and teams get aligned, or getting involved in the technical work when the situation calls for it.

People management is an important part of your role. You regularly have 1-on-1s, set personal development goals together and make expectations at each level clear. You lead performance reviews and promotion processes, give feedback and aren't afraid to have difficult conversations. You combine a supportive and people-focused approach with clarity and decisiveness.

• Translating business goals into concrete roadmaps, priorities and team objectives;

• Actively managing progress, quality and results across your team(s);

• Contributing your technical expertise to discussions about technical challenges, code quality and engineering decisions;

• Supporting engineers in their development and progression to the next level;

• Conducting performance reviews, recognising strong performance and addressing underperformance;

• Building an open culture where feedback and ownership are part of everyday work;

• Improving processes and ways of working together with your team.

For technical strategy and architecture, you work closely with our Staff Engineers and Architects. You bring enough technical experience to contribute to technical discussions and decisions, and to support your team when needed.

Fulltime | 36 - 40 h/w | hbo/wo level | Headquarters Groningen

*You are able to work at the office in Groningen during your entire onboarding period. After that, we have a remote working policy of a maximum of 2 days per week. More days are possible in consultation.

You have extensive experience as a senior software engineer, preferably in a complex technical environment. This allows you to contribute to technical discussions, evaluate engineering decisions and act as a credible technical sparring partner for your team.

You also have experience in leading or providing technical leadership to a software engineering team. You have a genuine interest in people's development and enjoy supporting colleagues and helping them grow.

• Takes ownership, shows initiative and proactively helps solve problems;

• Can distinguish what matters most, set clear priorities and make decisions when needed;

• Is strong at stakeholder management and can bring together different interests and perspectives;

• Understands technical challenges well enough to be a strong sparring partner for engineers and Product Managers;

• Communicates effectively, sets clear expectations and agreements, and can persuade and inspire others;

• Gives open and constructive feedback and is comfortable having difficult conversations;

• Is fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written;

• Experience with performance management, development conversations or other HR processes is a plus.
