Lead engineer

As a Lead engineer at Ballast Nedam Industriebouw in Rotterdam, you take technical control over engineering within our industrial projects, with a clear emphasis on civil engineering. You work on projects where civil engineering forms the basis and mechanical and E&I are important interfaces. You ensure that designs, working drawings, and technical elaborations are technically correct, feasible, and usable for work preparation and execution.

You assess civil engineering provided by clients and look critically at manufacturability, safety, quality, and interfaces with other disciplines. Do you see errors, ambiguities, or risks? Then you coordinate with the client and ensure that the correct information is on the table before the project team proceeds.

In addition, you manage external engineering parties when Ballast Nedam Industriebouw has engineering in scope within a project. This often concerns civil engineering, but you also monitor the connection with mechanical and E&I. You ensure that external parties deliver what is needed: technically correct, practically feasible, and well-applicable for work preparation and execution. In this, you are an assessor, sparring partner, and driver.

Internally, you lead a small technical team. You support, coach, and empower others. You also help work preparation to become increasingly independent in assessing working drawings and recognizing technical deviations early on.

This is not a classic engineering role in which you primarily design or perform calculations yourself. This is engineering management on the contractor's side: ensuring that civil engineering and the interfaces with other disciplines are not only correct on paper, but also feasible in the field.

• You have extensive experience with civil engineering, site engineering, technical management, or engineering coordination within complex project environments.

• You can assess designs, working drawings, and technical documentation for manufacturability, feasibility, safety, and quality.

• You are strong in managing and challenging external engineering parties, clients, and internal stakeholders.

• You have a sense for multidisciplinary interfaces, with civil as the basis and mechanical and E&I as important connecting disciplines.

• You lead in a coaching manner, empower people, and have the entrepreneurial mindset to help build a growing organization.

• You master the Dutch language at a minimum of B2 level, both orally and in writing.

• Salary from € 6750 to € 7750 gross per 4 weeks (€ 7312 to € 8395 gross per month) based on full-time employment;

• A good package of employment conditions according to the Bouw & Infra collective labor agreement, 30 vacation days, an individual budget from which you can also take 13 extra days off, and an excellent pension;
