Data Governance Consultant

For our Data & AI team, we are looking for a Data Governance Consultant who brings structure, enforces ownership, and brings management along in mature data usage.

You bring order to complexity.

As a Data Governance Consultant, you are the driving force behind professionalizing data governance within complex organizations. You connect strategy, operations, and technology into one working whole - and ensure that data is not a risk, but an accelerator.

You operate as a trusted advisor for C-level, management, business, architects, and data teams.
Where ownership is lacking, you organize it.
Where decision-making stalls, you bring clarity.
Where governance is fragmented, you build cohesion.

This is not a role in which you "roll out a framework".
You build an operating model that keeps working.

• Designing and implementing data governance strategies and operating models (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).

• Translating business goals into governance principles, roles, policies, and work processes.

• Performing data maturity assessments and maturity scans.

• Translating business use cases into data initiatives and concrete roadmaps.

• Advising management and executive boards on governance, risks, and priorities.

• Setting up and activating data stewardship (both top-down and bottom-up).

• Setting up decision-making around definitions, standards, business rules, and data quality.

• Organizing steering, ownership, and governance structures that are supported.

• Working with data modeling (basic level), data lineage, and impact analyses.

• Setting up and improving data quality and data management processes.

• Supporting data product teams with data contracts and lifecycle management.

• Facilitating workshops and working sessions at various organizational levels.

• Active stakeholder management in complex and sometimes political environments.

• Bridging business and IT - including resolving tensions and escalations.

• Increasing data literacy, ownership, and awareness throughout the entire organization.

• Bringing direction, focus, and pace to governance and change processes.

You are substantively strong and organizationally sensitive.

• A knowledge-driven Data & AI team where substance comes before sales.

• Projects in, among others, finance, energy, government, and retail.

• Space to help build propositions around data governance and data strategy.

• Little hierarchy, short lines of communication, and plenty of autonomy.

• Hybrid working from our office in Utrecht.
