The role
Do you want to contribute to the mission of Hartwig Medical Foundation to improve care for cancer patients?
Hartwig works intensively with hospitals, research institutions, and technology partners, both nationally and internationally. In this collaboration, patient data, innovation, and regulation are central and are inextricably linked. As Legal Counsel, you ensure that these collaborations are legally sound, workable, and future-proof. You help Hartwig grow scalably and compliantly within a complex environment at the intersection of data and health tech. You are part of a small and dedicated legal team with a broad scope: contract law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and data law. You advise various business units, guide collaborations and innovation projects, and engage external advisors where necessary. In this way, you have a direct impact in an organization where legal choices contribute to solutions for patients that truly matter.
What you'll do
- Designing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with national and international parties, including agreements for diagnostic services, SaaS, Service Level Agreements, collaborations, procurement, and data sharing.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining contract templates, model clauses, and legal standards, with an eye for scalability and practical applicability within the organization.
- Advising business units and teams on legal issues regarding compliance, collaboration, and research & development projects.
- Supporting the implementation of new laws and regulations, including the GDPR and European regulations such as the AI Act, and translating these into workable processes and frameworks.
- Drafting, updating, and safeguarding internal policies, legal procedures, registers, and quality standards.
- Coordinating the deployment of external legal advisors where necessary.
- Supporting compliance and governance activities within an international context and proactively identifying legal risks.
- Strong analytical skills, legal precision, and excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
- Able to translate legal issues into practical, workable advice.
- Pragmatic, proactive, and result-oriented working style, with a good sense of priorities in a fast-growing, innovative organization.
- Operating independently, actively seeking collaboration, and comfortable in a mission-driven environment.
