What we're looking for
• A completed HBO or university degree. Preferably in the field of Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human Technology Interaction, or User Experience design.
• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience with UI Design;
• At least 1 year of demonstrable work experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Experience working from design principles, top tasks, personas, customer journeys, scenarios, etc.
• Experience applying design tools in an agile environment and a scrum team;
• Experience working in a politically complex environment;
• Substantive knowledge of WCAG 2.1, digital accessibility guidelines;
• Experience in drafting and conducting usability tests;
• Proficiency in various design tools (Sketch, Figma etc.).
The role
The company is one of the development partners of the digital system of the Environment Act (Omgevingswet). Through the Environment Act, all information will soon be found in one place in the new Environment Desk (Omgevingsloket). Through this desk, initiators, governments, and stakeholders can quickly see what is possible and permitted in the physical living environment. The system is being developed in an Agile manner, which means that at the beginning of the quarter it is decided what will be built, and at the end of the quarter functionality is delivered, which is often tested immediately via field trials. Several applications for the Environment Act are being developed within the company.
Our goal is to develop new, user-friendly, accessible, and attractive front-ends that are WCAG proof and can subsequently be built by developers. You will draw from our existing Design System and contribute to it where necessary. You will also be closely involved in the development process.
What you'll do
- Participating in sessions in which the team brainstorms a solid solution together with the Product Owner and users;
- Developing UX designs for various DSO applications according to WCAG 2.1 guidelines;
- Testing designs in collaboration with a UX researcher;
- Contributing to the Design System (DSO-Toolkit);
- Actively participating in all agile rituals;
- Providing input to front-end developers.
How you'll work
They work with Scrum and DevOps, and the teams are integrally responsible for the entire technical service delivery, from idea to production. They offer an informal working atmosphere from a dynamic environment. Sometimes it works better to clear your head, and you can play a game of table tennis, play games, or realize a design with the 3D printer with your teammates. They also have an innovation hub to work together in a different atmosphere. Additionally, you can work from home in consultation with your team.
Currently, you work from home and consult with your team and colleagues via Teams.
The candidate is deployable from January 4, 2021, up to and including December 31, 2021, for 32-40 hours per week. The assignment can optionally be extended twice (2) by six (6) months. The client may unilaterally terminate the agreement prematurely with a notice period of one (1) month.

About the company & team
As a UX Designer, you will work at the company's IT directorate in a professional, experienced, and driven Agile/Scrum environment. You will be deployed within the DSO Viewer and the DSO Catalog teams. Your assignment is to create designs that comply with the WCAG guideline. Together with a senior UX Designer, you will inventory and analyze user wishes, research the needs of the target group, and develop concepts into wireframes and clickable prototypes. Where necessary, you will engage in dialogue with stakeholders and end users.
Additionally, as a UX designer, you will be part of a virtual UX team. The team members work for various organizations such as Rijkswaterstaat and currently consists of 5 UX designers, 1 digital accessibility advisor, 1 content designer, 1 UX researcher, 3 front-end developers, and 1 UX lead.
Where is the boundary between your garden and your neighbor's? And which real estate belongs to whom? The company registers who has which rights for all real estate (land and buildings) in the Netherlands. They have a vast amount of data about everything below, on, and above the ground and want to derive maximum value from this data. They also manage facilities from other organizations, the National Facilities (Landelijke Voorzieningen). For example, they manage the WOZ National Facility and the Basic Registration of Addresses and Buildings (BAG): all addresses and buildings in the Netherlands, such as year of construction, surface area, intended use, and location on the map.
