The role
The internship assignment
The assignment is to audit our entire production process for manufacturing control panels. You will map the process from the moment a request for quotation arrives through to shipment to the customer. In doing so, you will look not only at the main process steps, but also at the peripheral processes that influence lead time, quality, costs, planning, and collaboration.
The end result is a clear Value Stream Map of the current situation, including bottlenecks, waste, handover points, waiting times, and opportunities for improvement. Based on this, you will develop recommendations for a future process that is more efficient, more predictable, and better manageable.
What will you investigate?
· How does the process proceed from request for quotation, calculation, and order through to delivery?
· How do project leaders, engineers, work preparation, purchasing, assembly, testing, acceptance testing, and shipping collaborate?
· What information is needed at which moment, and where do delays, duplicate work, or ambiguities arise?
· What influence do peripheral processes such as ICT, purchasing, SHEQ, warehouse, planning, administration, and quality have on the main process?
· Where are the most important bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities for improvement?
· How should the future process be designed to better manage lead time, quality, delivery reliability, and efficiency?
Desired result
· A Value Stream Map of the current situation.
· An analysis of bottlenecks, waste, dependencies, and handover points.
· An overview of improvement opportunities per process step and peripheral process.
· A proposal for the desired future process design.
· Concrete recommendations for implementation, prioritization, and safeguarding.
· A final presentation for management and involved departments.
Who are we looking for?
· You are pursuing a Bachelor's (HBO) or Master's (WO) degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a comparable program.
· You have an interest in production processes, Lean, process optimization, and change management.
· You are analytically strong and enjoy making processes visible and understandable.
· You are a good listener, ask probing questions, and can switch between different departments.
· You are independent, curious, practical-minded, and not afraid to go onto the shop floor.
· You can clearly record findings in reports, process models, and presentations.
