The role
The role
What you'll do
The chance that you will design the same machine twice is small. For a Mechatronic System Architect, this means a work environment in which no project is the same and in which technical innovation is not an ambition, but a daily practice. As a Mechatronic System Architect, you determine how a system is constructed, which technologies are applied, and which technical choices are necessary to successfully realize a project. You are the technical conscience of the project and have a decisive role in the architecture of complex machines and production lines deployed worldwide. You are responsible for developing and monitoring the system architecture of complex industrial mechanization projects. From the very first customer inquiry to the final commissioning, you provide technical direction to the project. You translate business objectives and functional requirements into a realizable architecture and ensure that mechanics, control engineering, software, electrical engineering, and safety form one integral system together. You operate at strategic, tactical, and technical levels and are an important interlocutor for customers, project management, and engineering teams. Your responsibilities include:
Additional information
- Defining and documenting the system architecture;
- Translating customer needs into technical concepts and solutions;
- Dividing complex systems into manageable subsystems;
- Making trade-offs between performance, cost, risks, and planning;
- Performing and monitoring technical risk analyses;
- Developing technological roadmaps;
- Assessing and approving architectural and design choices;
- Technically managing multidisciplinary engineering teams;
- Advising customers on technical solutions and investment choices;
- Monitoring system integration, performance, safety, and reliability.
Your strength
We are looking for an experienced architect who has already proven his value within complex machine building, automation, or industrial mechanization projects.
You are accustomed to making technical decisions under uncertainty, can distinguish between essential and non-essential matters, and know how to connect diverse disciplines into one working solution. You possess:
At VDL Projects, you are responsible for the total system.
At VDL Projects, you are responsible for the total system. You work on diverse custom solutions, from automated production lines to complete production systems. No project is the same, meaning you continuously encounter new technologies, challenges, and customer inquiries. You determine the technical course, make crucial architectural choices, and are involved from the first concept to commissioning. For architects who get energy from complexity, variety, and ownership, this is a position with direct technical impact. We offer an environment in which experienced professionals are given the space to exert actual influence. Furthermore, you can count on:
For the architect who makes the difference!
For the architect who makes the difference! We are not looking for an engineer who wants to become an architect, but an architect who has proven to successfully design complex systems, dares to make technical choices, and gets energy from projects for which the solution does not yet exist. Are you that architect who provides direction to complex technical projects and wants to see visible results from his choices? Then we would love to talk to you. Recruitment in response to this vacancy is not appreciated.
