Student Internship

• You are in the final stage of your bachelor or master of Dutch law, or you have recently graduated

• You are social, (pro)active, decisive, and well able to work independently

• You can express yourself excellently, both orally and in writing, in Dutch

• Extracurricular activities that demonstrate your ambitions and personal development are a plus

• Good internship arrangement. A full-time internship lasts two months and you will receive a gross allowance of €1,200. It is possible, in consultation, to follow one course during your internship so that you do not experience study delay.

• Working on real cases. From day one, you will receive a dedicated mentor who will guide you through the many facets of our profession. You will participate in ongoing cases, attend hearings, and take part in client meetings. Additionally, you will contribute substantively by drafting notes, advice, and procedural documents, and you will conduct in-depth case law and literature research. Your input counts!

• Professional knowledge. Join the weekly practice group lunches, where new cases, case law, and literature are discussed. Furthermore, you can participate in in-house courses, lectures, and moot court exercises from the Jonge Balie Midden-Nederland. A unique opportunity to develop yourself and take your knowledge to a higher level.

• Fun and networking. Alongside hard work, there is plenty of room for relaxation and fun. Participate in our weekly drinks, company parties, and sporting activities such as our annual hockey, football, or padel tournament. Additionally, you can join the activities and drinks of the Jonge Balie Midden-Nederland. This is a fun way to expand your network.

• Feedback and growth. During your internship, you will receive continuous feedback, so you know what is going well and where you can still learn. Do not hesitate to ask questions; your learning curve is central. We encourage proactivity, so that you can get the most out of your internship. Following the internship, an oral evaluation and a written final assessment will follow. Do you want to include the internship as part of your studies? Then you will write a short internship report.

Do you want to discover what the legal profession has to offer you? At VBK, you can choose from two challenging two-month internships: a broad internship or a focus internship.

• Broad internship: you work within two different practice groups, where you participate in one practice group during the first month and the other during the second month. Additionally, you can be assigned to tasks from other practice groups and you can also join substantive consultations, meetings, and hearings of other practice groups. This way, you experience the versatility of the legal profession and our firm in a short time. In this way, you discover which areas of law appeal to you most, where your passion lies, and what it is like to work multidisciplinarily.

• Focus internship: do you already know which direction you want to go? Then choose a focus internship and experience the daily practice of a specific practice group. A great opportunity to specialize and find out what your future could look like in your favorite area of law.

Do you choose an internship within notary practice? Then you will discover everything about the fascinating world of corporate and commercial real estate.
