Nice to have
This job advert was originally written in Dutch.
· At least 3 years of work experience as an engineer in an enterprise or hosting environment
· Good knowledge of Linux (required)
· Experience with Docker and containerization (required)
· Knowledge of network concepts: DNS, IP addressing, firewalls, load balancing, and SSL certificates
· Familiarity with Git/GitLab and version control (required)
A sense for infrastructure as code and YAML is a plus. You don't necessarily have to be a developer, but you shouldn't be intimidated by code and configuration management. The infrastructure as code is written in YAML and deployed via GitLab pipelines to components such as Palo Alto, Infoblox, and F5 load balancers. Those who have already worked with these components have an advantage.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Ansible, Puppet, or Windows administration immediately increases your employability in the team but is not a hard requirement. We welcome a Red Hat certification (RHCE) via education or demonstrable work experience. You speak and write fluent Dutch. This is a hard requirement from our clients.
· Salary between €3,800 - €5,500 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience
· 32 to 40-hour work week, largely from home
· 80% employer pension contribution
· 26 vacation days, with the possibility of expansion
· Vitality allowance of up to €300 per year for sports and exercise
You work two days per week at the office in Amersfoort. Monday is the fixed team day: everyone is present then and we hold our bi-weekly team meeting. You schedule the second office day yourself. The rest of the week, you work from home. You handle the on-call service fully remote, simply from your own laptop.
Solvinity actively invests in your growth. Through courses, training, and relevant meetups, you will stay technically sharp. There is plenty of room to develop in the direction that appeals to you most. You work in a team of engineers with diverse experience levels, from young talent to seasoned specialists. Sharing knowledge is the norm here.
Amersfoort | 32-40 hours | €3,800 - €5,500 gross p/m
You love an operational environment where the pace is high and no two days are the same. As an Operations Engineer at Solvinity, you will work on critical infrastructure for clients that truly cannot afford downtime, such as the Ministry of Justice and Security and the Netherlands Police. You resolve incidents, manage systems, and perform deployments. You do this largely from home, in a close-knit team where collegiality is a given.
In Solvinity's operations team, one thing is central: ensuring that the systems of critical organizations keep running. As an Operations Engineer, you resolve calls, changes, incidents, and service requests. These come in from both Linux and Windows environments. You work primarily on Linux (approximately 70%), but Windows issues are also part of your task package (approximately 30%).
The environments are large, complex, and highly interconnected. Documentation is available, but it is not always fully up-to-date. You are someone who seeks out information independently, thinks practically, and knows how to find a colleague when necessary.
In practice, you will do the following:
· Resolving incidents, changes, calls, and service requests in both Linux and Windows environments
· Executing and troubleshooting deployments via RunDeck, Ansible, and Docker via CI/CD.
· Working with YAML-based infrastructure as code (AppBundles) via GitLab pipelines
· Coordinating with technically proficient clients via telephone, email, or Teams
· Participating in the on-call service: once every eight weeks, for one week, to be resolved fully remote
You will regularly deal with firewall configurations, load balancers, and SSL certificates. You will apply this knowledge immediately when resolving complex calls from clients such as the Ministry of Justice and Security. Affinity with networking is therefore not a luxury, but a requirement.
You take initiative. You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do, but you get to work yourself. If you get stuck? Then you raise the alarm. Ownership and a sense of responsibility: that is what distinguishes you in this role.
You communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and think analytically. Your clients are technically proficient, so you switch to their level easily. You work independently, but know when you need a colleague. Working under pressure suits you, and you don't easily lose your cool when things get hectic.
