Internship Assignment: Optimization and Automation of the Work Preparation Process

Within IHC Piping, as a graduating student, you will play an active role in improving the work preparation process within our Piping Support Office. This process forms the link between engineering, planning, procurement, and production and is crucial for smooth execution on the shop floor.

You will investigate the current way of working, map out bottlenecks, and develop concrete improvement proposals. The focus lies on process optimization, standardization, and (digital) automation, for example, using data, digital tools, and smart workflows.

Depending on your interest and field of study, the emphasis may lie on organization, technology, or digitalization.

• Analyzing the current work preparation process (lean/value stream approach).
• Exploring waste, sources of error, and optimization opportunities together with stakeholders.
• Developing proposals for a clearer, smarter, and better-supported process.
• Investigating how digital tools (such as automation and workflow support) can lighten the workload.
• Substantiating your proposals and translating them into a concrete improvement plan.
• Coordinating with work preparers, engineering, production, and IT.

• You are in year 3 or 4 of a HBO or WO degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or BIM.
• You have an affinity for production processes, work preparation, and digitalization.
• You are interested in how processes, people, and technology come together.
• You enjoy collaborating, asking questions, and dare to share your observations.
• You communicate clearly in Dutch and English.
