As a Barge & Rail Planner, you are responsible for planning and coordinating container transport via inland shipping and rail. The role focuses on realizing reliable, cost-efficient, and well-coordinated transport solutions that align with customer needs.

You will be part of a collaborative planning team working with a wide network of inland shipping terminals and seaports in Europe.

You will enter a dynamic working environment in which factors such as weather conditions, water levels, and terminal congestion can influence daily operations. This requires flexibility, resilience, and strong communication skills to ensure continuity and service quality.

• You plan and optimize container transports via barge and rail, with an eye for customer wishes, available capacity, and costs
• You coordinate transport schedules with sea and inland shipping terminals within Europe to ensure smooth transfers
• You work closely with customer service teams to align the planning with customer expectations
• You monitor ongoing transports and respond to disruptions such as low water levels, weather conditions, or terminal congestion
• You communicate clearly and proactively with customers, partners, and internal teams to ensure transparency and continuity
• You take responsibility for resolving operational issues and adjust planning quickly when necessary
• You contribute to new transport initiatives, such as the development of new routes and connections
• You work together within a team of barge and rail planners, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues where necessary
• You identify opportunities to improve planning processes, cost control, and service
