In short

The world is at your feet as a sheet metal worker at KLM. Not only do you perform crucial sheet metal maintenance, but you also find yourself in an environment where aircraft literally fly over your head. Due to the diversity of roles, departments, and colleagues, you have the opportunity at KLM to exceed yourself. Every single day.

What will you do?

You start your workday by reviewing incoming damage reports for aircraft and engine components. Together with your colleagues, you inspect the sheet metal, select the correct tools, and coordinate the repair approach. Subsequently, you assist with complex repair work or work independently on riveting, bending, and straightening. In between, you carefully record your measurements and completed steps in the systems. At the end of the day, you ensure that your machines and tools are left calibrated, clean, and safe for the next shift.

Furthermore:

  • you assess damage to aircraft and determine which sheet metal technique is required;
  • you repair and restore damaged parts according to applicable manuals and safety requirements;
  • you maintain your tools and machines to ensure the required precision;
  • you support fellow technicians in multidisciplinary repairs within the maintenance operation;
  • you accurately administer all performed repair steps in the maintenance system.

Where will you land?

You land in the Component Services department within KLM Engineering & Maintenance at Schiphol-Oost. Within this specialized workshop team, you work together with enthusiastic professionals on components for approximately fifty international airlines. Together, you ensure that aircraft components are repaired quickly and reliably, so that aircraft can safely take off worldwide again.

Your profile

You love to learn. Have you already completed a sheet metal vocational training? Perfect, you can start right away! If not, you will follow a training program to become a sheet metal specialist during working hours. You improvise easily, think in solutions, and especially see possibilities, not problems. You work flexibly and are resistant to stress. This is important, because the pressure here is high and the responsibility is great.

Furthermore:

  • you have completed at least a technical education at MBO level 3 or are willing to follow the training program to become a sheet metal specialist during your work;
  • you read and understand technical manuals and instructions in both Dutch and English;
  • you have an affinity with aviation or technology - preferably both
