Internship Privacy Compliance

Do you want to discover how privacy works in practice within a large financial organization? For the Data Protection CoE, we are looking for a curious and entrepreneurial intern who wants to learn a lot and simultaneously wants to contribute to the further improvement of our privacy compliance organization.

During this internship, you will work on diverse privacy issues and gain insight into how privacy management is organized within a large organization. You will deal with concrete questions and requests from the organization, learn how these are assessed and followed up, and simultaneously investigate how processes can be organized more smartly, efficiently, and better.

You do not need to be a privacy expert yet. We are specifically looking for someone who wants to learn the trade, is analytically strong, and enjoys moving from a concrete issue to a practical improvement.

Depending on your interests and development, under supervision you will:

1. Monitor and process incoming messages.
2. Categorize and route requests to the correct contact persons or teams.
3. Monitor handling deadlines and the follow-up of outstanding requests.
4. Support reporting on the nature and turnaround time of requests.
5. Analyze the different types of privacy messages received via the incoming channels.
6. Map out the current work process regarding intake, classification, and handling.
7. Identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, quality, and customer experience.
8. Develop concrete improvement proposals, including process descriptions, work instructions, and potential automation opportunities.
9. Present findings and recommendations to the DPO Office.

You:

• are pursuing a HBO or WO degree and are looking for an internship;
• have an interest in privacy, compliance, governance, and process improvement;
• are analytical and structured, with an eye for quality and progress;
• are curious and enjoy mastering new subjects quickly;
• have strong communication skills and are careful in handling confidential information;
• are proactive and enjoy both participating practically and identifying and developing opportunities for improvement;
• enjoy working both independently and in collaboration with others;
• have a good command of Dutch; English is a plus.

You will get the chance to gain practical experience within the privacy domain and learn from experienced privacy professionals. Because you both participate in daily practice and work on improvements, you will gain a broad view of how privacy management functions within a large financial organization.

You will learn to analyze privacy issues, see how different parts of the organization work together, and experience how you move from a practical bottleneck to a concrete improvement.

In doing so, you will receive sufficient guidance and space to become increasingly independent. Every intern is paired with two seniors in the team: an internship coordinator with whom you align your learning goals and who shows you your way through the organization, and at least one senior who is substantively involved in the assignment.
