The role
Do you want to learn how to translate privacy knowledge within a large financial organization into training that truly helps employees in their daily work? For the Privacy Office, we are looking for a curious and entrepreneurial intern to support the development, refinement, and organization of privacy training and the Privacy Steward Learning Journey.
During this internship, you will work together with experienced privacy professionals and colleagues from Learning & Development. You will help reduce complex privacy topics to clear learning objectives, recognizable practical situations, and appropriate learning interventions. In doing so, you will look not only at knowledge, but also at the skills, behavior, and attitude employees need to recognize privacy risks in a timely manner, ask the right questions, and incorporate privacy from the start into processes, products, and changes.
The assignment aligns with the broader role of the Privacy Office: contributing to effective privacy governance, integrated solutions for privacy issues, and the sustainable increase of privacy knowledge within the organization. As an intern, you will fulfill a supporting and learning role in this. You will receive a clearly defined assignment, work under supervision, and help deliver concrete materials and improvements that the team can use immediately.
You don't need to be a privacy expert yet. More importantly, you quickly master new subjects, can analyze carefully, and enjoy translating content into understandable and attractive learning experiences. Affinity with privacy, compliance, learning design, communication, or organizational development is a plus.
What you'll do
Depending on your interests, education, and development, under supervision you will:
• Support the further development of the Privacy Steward Learning Journey, from principles and learning objectives to a coherent learning path with opportunities for deepening knowledge.
• Inventory which privacy knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes are needed for different target groups, particularly Privacy Stewards.
• Collect, analyze, and help organize existing training, presentations, e-learnings, guidance, and other learning materials into a recognizable and findable training offering.
• Translate complex privacy topics into clear learning objectives, practical cases, exercises, quizzes, quick reference cards, presentations, workshops, and other learning interventions.
• Think along about a blended learning approach in which formal learning is combined with learning on the job, knowledge sharing, feedback, buddy systems, knowledge sessions, and other informal interventions.
• Help differentiate by roles, responsibilities, experience level, and work environment, so that employees only receive the knowledge and support relevant to their practice.
• Gather user needs from Privacy Stewards, privacy professionals, and other stakeholders and process the feedback into materials and proposals.
• Support pilots, workshops, and training sessions, for example by preparing sessions, testing materials, collecting feedback, and working out points for improvement.
• Think along about findability, communication, registration, and safeguarding of privacy training via existing channels, such as MyLearning and the Privacy SharePoint.
• Help determine how reach, usage, learning results, and practical applicability of the Learning Journey can be monitored and improved.
• Collaborate with Privacy Officers, the DPO, Privacy Stewards, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Data, IT, and Learning & Development and present findings and recommendations to the Privacy Office.
Working Environment
You will work within the Privacy Office, part of Compliance. Compliance is an independent second-line function that helps protect the bank, its customers, and employees against compliance risks, including privacy risks. The area of work covers the entire bank, including subsidiaries and international components. You will work together with privacy professionals and disciplines such as the DPO, Business Compliance Officers, Privacy Stewards, Legal, Risk, IT, Data, and Learning & Development.
Your internship assignment
You are working towards a concrete and usable result for the Privacy Office. Think of a developed component of the Privacy Steward Learning Journey, an improved training concept, a set of practice-oriented learning materials, or a proposal for the design, findability, and evaluation of the privacy training offering. The precise scope will be coordinated at the start based on your education, learning goals, and the current priorities of the team.
The activities are supportive and do not introduce critical dependencies for important deliverables. Within the agreed assignment, you will be given space to work largely independently, while regularly coordinating with subject matter experts and your supervisor.
Your profile
You:
• is following a HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) program, for example in the field of Learning & Development, educational science, communication, law, privacy, compliance, business administration, psychology, HR, instructional design, or a related field, and is looking for an internship or research internship;
• has an interest in privacy, learning and development, communication, behavior, and organizational change;
• is analytical and structured and can distinguish between main and secondary points;
• can reduce complex information to clear learning objectives, understandable explanations, and practical examples;
• enjoys researching different forms of learning and developing and testing materials iteratively;
• is curious about how people apply knowledge in their daily work and how learning can contribute to different behavior;
• is communicatively skilled, careful, and professional in dealing with confidential information and personal data;
• is proactive and can work independently on a defined assignment and also collaborate with professionals from different fields;
• has a good command of English; Dutch is a plus.
We offer
You will get the chance to gain practical experience at the intersection of privacy management, learning & development, and organizational change. You will learn how privacy legislation, internal frameworks, technology, data, customer interest, and other risk domains come together and how you translate this complex context into effective support for employees.
You will participate in the full development cycle of learning interventions: from target group and needs analysis, learning objectives, and concept development to testing, organizing, communicating, evaluating, and improving. In doing so, you will gain insight into bank-wide privacy governance, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the challenges of sustainably safeguarding knowledge and behavior in a large organization.
You will receive sufficient guidance and space to become increasingly independent. You will align your learning goals with the internship coordinator, who will guide you through the organization, and you will be paired with at least one senior professional who is substantively involved in the assignment.
Interest
Do you want to learn how to convert complex privacy topics into practical, attractive, and applicable learning interventions? And does it appeal to you to build a future-proof Privacy Steward Learning Journey together with privacy professionals and Learning & Development?
Then we would love to meet you. Above all, tell us what you want to learn, what you are curious about, and why this internship appeals to you.
