  • Intensive guidance during your graduation process;

  • Time and space for your research and school assignments;

The role

Learn more. Do more. More career. That is an internship at Dura Vermeer.

Finally, you can apply theory in practice: you are excited about it, and so are we! As a graduate at Dura Vermeer, you will get the chance to work on a current and future-oriented issue. How can we use data, AI, and technology to make our daily processes smarter and more efficient? No theoretical approach, but research based on real challenges from practice. You will help us discover opportunities and develop solutions that truly add value to our projects and processes.

What you'll do

Data, AI, and digitalization offer plenty of opportunities for the construction sector. But where do the greatest possibilities lie for us? And how do we ensure that technology actually helps our colleagues and projects further? During this graduation internship, you will work on current practical issues. Think of smarter structuring of knowledge and data, the digitalization of processes, or researching how AI can contribute to solving challenges within projects. You will receive a concrete case or a larger project in which you investigate how things work now, where opportunities for improvement lie, and how this can be done better. To do this, you will engage in conversation with colleagues from various disciplines, such as work preparers, site managers, and project teams. You will map out the current situation, investigate needs and challenges, and translate these into a practical solution that is truly applicable within our organization.

You will be given a lot of freedom to shape your research and to further refine the graduation topic together with your supervisor.

You will focus on researching opportunities surrounding data, AI, digitalization, and process improvement within our organization. In doing so, you will be involved in, among other things:

  • Analyzing current issues within projects and processes;

  • Investigating how tasks can be organized more smartly, simply, or efficiently;

  • Speaking with colleagues, such as work preparers, site managers, and other stakeholders, to gather needs and bottlenecks;

  • Investigating how data, AI, and digital solutions can contribute to improving processes;

  • Structuring and making knowledge and information accessible;

  • Developing a concrete end product, advice, or solution;

  • Assessing the feasibility and added value of your proposal.

In doing this, you will work at the intersection of construction, innovation, technology, and process improvement.

What you bring

  • You are following a HBO (university of applied sciences) or WO (research university) program in the direction of Civil Engineering, Smart Building, Built Environment, Data Science, Computer Science, HBO-ICT, Business IT, or a similar study;

  • You have an affinity with the construction sector and are curious about the role of digitalization and AI within construction projects;

  • You are analytically strong and enjoy investigating complex issues and identifying opportunities for improvement;

  • You make contact easily with various stakeholders and know how to translate insights into practical solutions;

  • You are proactive, independent, and available for a graduation internship of approximately 6 months (at least 4 days per week).

Requirements

Dura Vermeer is an independent family business. And you can notice that. In how we work together, look out for one another, and build with an eye for future generations. Since 1855, we have been building the Netherlands, in residential construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, and technology. Our independence and long-term vision form the basis for this. With a turnover of € 2.6 billion and over 3,700 colleagues, we belong to the top of the Dutch construction sector. But ultimately, for us, it is not about those figures. It is about people. About colleagues working together on projects you can be proud of – iconic and close to home – and contributing to solutions for societal issues. Our ambitions are great. And we only achieve them with committed people. That is why we invest in good employerhood and a working environment in which you feel at home. Where you can be yourself, feel safe, and speak up. So that you get the best out of yourself and make more together with us.
