At DTS, you do not work on serial production, but instead build unique machines for the largest food producers in the world together with colleagues in our workshop. From raw stainless steel to a complete installation: you see your work come to life from start to finish and ultimately be deployed worldwide in future-oriented food production globally.

The role

DutchTecSource (DTS) has been developing and building innovative machines for the food processing industry for more than 25 years. From our workshop in Beusichem, we realize custom solutions that are deployed worldwide. From raw stainless steel material to a fully operational machine: at DTS, we build installations completely in-house from start to finish.

There is a high probability that products you encounter daily in the supermarket have been processed using our machines. Because of this, DTS has had an established name in the international food processing industry for years.

The demand for our machines is growing worldwide, which is why we are looking for new colleagues who want to build the future of machine manufacturing together with us.

What you'll do

As a Lead Engineer, you are the technical trailblazer within your projects. You are responsible for the complete technical design of the machines or production line and ensure that all disciplines come together into one well-functioning whole.

You are involved from the very first customer inquiry and, together with Sales and the Project Manager, translate functional customer wishes into a technical design that meets all requirements regarding mechanics, production, regulations, and quality. You monitor the technical cohesion of the complete project, maintain an overview of all engineering activities, and simultaneously actively participate yourself in the design, engineering, and development of the machines and installations. Additionally, you actively contribute ideas regarding the process-technical operation of the installation. You look at matters such as product flows, capacity, temperature, and residence time and translate these into an optimally functioning result for the complete production line.

You are not only responsible for the design, but also for the technical choices made during the project. You think ahead, identify improvements, and ensure that nothing is overlooked. You are the technical point of contact for the Project Manager, colleagues within engineering, and—via Sales—also for the customer.

You work on impressive stainless steel installations in which products of up to 30 tons per hour are processed. From blanchers and cookers to complete production lines used worldwide by the largest food producers.

What will you do?

  • Translating functional customer wishes into technical requirements and specifications

  • Being responsible for the complete technical design of a machine or production line

  • Drawing up and managing P&ID's and the technical principles of machines and installations

  • Monitoring the technical cohesion between different machines and installations within a project

  • Providing technical guidance and substantive support to Mechanical and Project Engineers

  • Checking whether designs meet customer wishes, regulations, standards, and inspection requirements

  • Acting as the technical point of contact for the Project Manager, colleagues, and via Sales for the customer

  • Identifying technical risks and proactively proposing improvements

  • Collaborating with the workshop, production, electrical engineering, and external suppliers to achieve the best technical solution

  • Actively contributing ideas regarding process operation, product flows, temperature, capacity, and residence time

Who are you?

You are someone who:

  • HBO or WO working and thinking level in Mechanical Engineering or similar

  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, Process Engineer, or Lead Engineer within machine building

  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD

  • Affinity with process installations or machine building

  • The ability to translate functional customer wishes into practical technical solutions

  • A proactive attitude; you see improvements and speak up when something can be done better

  • An overview of the bigger picture without losing sight of the technical details

  • Good communication skills and enjoyment in guiding colleagues
