The role
We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.
Make the transition to marine engines
At Damen, you will learn to work on medium- and slow-speed marine diesel engines. Together with experienced colleagues, you will develop yourself into a specialist in maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting. Experience with marine engines is therefore not required. Technical insight, wrenching experience, and the motivation to learn the trade are more important.
What you'll do
What will you do?
One week you will overhaul large engine parts in the workshop. The next week you will work aboard a ship in Rotterdam, Antwerp, or elsewhere in Europe. Your duties include:
Performing maintenance and inspections on marine diesel engines
Disassembling, inspecting, and assembling engine parts
Performing measurements and recording technical findings
Analyzing faults and resolving them together with colleagues
Assisting with overhaul projects in the workshop and onboard
Preparing service reports
Working according to high safety and quality standards
How you'll work
Do you wrench on trucks, cars, agricultural machinery, or other heavy technology? Then this is your chance to make the switch to the maritime world. You don't need to have experience with marine engines yet. We will teach you how to maintain, overhaul, and get large marine diesel engines running again.
We are, of course, also looking for experienced marine engine mechanics. We have written a separate vacancy for this.
*at this moment the workshop is still in Bergen op Zoom. Within a year, we will be moving to the existing workshop in S'gravendeel.
Location
The work is currently being carried out from Bergen op Zoom. Within a year, the workshop will be integrated into our location in 's-Gravendeel, which will become the future permanent base. Additionally, you will regularly work at project locations both domestically and abroad.
Who are we looking for?
This position is interesting for technicians who, for example, work as:
Truck mechanic
Diesel mechanic
Auto mechanic
Mobile equipment mechanic
Agricultural mechanization mechanic
Mechanic in the industrial maintenance sector
