Pay & benefits

What you'll get

For our employment conditions, we follow the CAO Rijk. That means you can count on the following, among other things:

  • A salary of at least € 4132,- and at most € 6275,- gross per month based on 36 hours. Depending on your knowledge and experience. If you do not yet possess all the required knowledge and experience at the start of your position, a choice can be made for temporary placement in a lower salary scale. You will make agreements about this with your supervisor at the start of your position.

  • 8% holiday allowance and a 13th month. In total, this is 16.5% on top of your salary. We call this the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). You decide yourself how, when, and in what way you want to use this budget.

  • Pension accrual at the ABP Pension Fund.

  • A laptop (Microsoft or Apple) and mobile phone (Android or iOS).

  • Two to three days of working from home, the rest you are present in our recently renovated building. You will make further agreements about this within your team.

The role

Are you an experienced database specialist who wants to apply their technical expertise to complex issues and the further development of a modern data platform? Do you want to contribute to secure, reliable, and future-proof database services within a social organization, but are consciously looking for a position for 16 hours per week? Then we are looking for you.

What you'll do

As a Senior Database Specialist, you will strengthen our team with specialist knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL. You will focus primarily on complex technical issues, improvements, and innovation. Daily operations lie with the team; you help precisely where extra expertise, depth, or direction is needed.

Our database services form an important part of the CBS technical infrastructure. Availability, performance, security, and continuity are essential in this regard. At the same time, we are further developing our services by automating more, researching new database services, and further modernizing our infrastructure.

With your experience, you help the team with issues that go beyond daily management. You analyze complex problems, advise on technical choices, and help realize structural improvements. In doing so, you work both with our existing MSSQL and PostgreSQL environments and on the development of future database services.

Where you make the difference

Because you work 16 hours per week, the emphasis lies on tasks for which your senior expertise adds the most value:

  • analyzing and solving complex issues regarding MSSQL and PostgreSQL, including performance, troubleshooting, and database optimization;

  • advising on database architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, lifecycle management, and the processing of large amounts of data;

  • initiating and executing structural technical improvements and contributing to upgrades, migrations, and the automation of database tasks;

  • contributing to the development of new database services, including Database as a Service and future technologies such as graph databases;

  • thinking along about the further modernization of the platform, including containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD;

  • improving monitoring, logging, capacity management, backup and restore facilities, encryption, authorizations, and information security, and sharing your knowledge with colleagues and other technical specialists.

Your future colleagues

You are an experienced database specialist who quickly gets to the heart of a technical issue. You do not need to be constantly involved in daily operations to understand what is happening and are able to set clear priorities within your available time.

You combine in-depth database knowledge with a broader view of infrastructure, automation, and security. You do not only think in temporary solutions, but look for structural improvements that also add value in the longer term.

Additionally, you can explain your technical considerations clearly. You work easily with other technical disciplines, share your knowledge, and can advise colleagues without taking over their work.

This is you

Certifications in the field of Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL are a plus.

Factually well-arranged

We will close the vacancy once sufficient candidates have applied.
