Do you have 2-5 years of work experience, are you result-oriented and not afraid to enforce choices, and are you looking for the next step in your career? Then become a public fixer at Berenschot. We are specifically looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience/affinity with (the problems with) nature, agriculture, and nitrogen policy in the Netherlands.
As a public fixer, you work together with a team of colleagues and the client on a task that has stalled. These are the "stomach ache" files of administrators. Together with your project team and the client, you determine the course. You don't just think, but also act. This requires that you quickly grasp a file, know how to distinguish main points from minor details, create overview, and bring the right people together. You do all of this with a highly proactive attitude. You work approximately 2-3 days per week on one project, which lasts about 3-6 months.
We have developed our own methodology to achieve clear decisions and progress specifically in such a context. In doing so, we ensure that we know down to every detail how the problem is structured and what courses of action are available.
We are specifically looking for reinforcement in the field of nature, agriculture, and nitrogen. Within this domain, we have previously worked on: · Supporting Johan Remkes in his final nitrogen advice (What is possible).
Research into the impact of nitrogen and grid congestion on economic and spatial developments in Noord-Holland.
The elaboration of the Coherent Approach to Nitrogen and Nature Restoration in Zuid-Holland.
The secretariat of the Agricultural Agreement.
The secretariat of the Covenant for Dignified Livestock Farming.
Conflict tests for grazing policy for the province of Gelderland.
Research into the balance between the nature tasks and resources of provinces.
Advising on the organizational design of target management in agriculture.
Organizational issues within the physical domain
In addition, you will also work on projects in other "fixer" domains such as an effective government, regional industrial policy, youth care, the earthquake dossier, or asylum and migration.
Berenschot is an independent Dutch organizational consultancy firm in Utrecht, where more than 500 driven colleagues work on sustainable solutions for the challenges of our clients. We contribute to progress in organizations and society with our advice and solutions. Our organization has a flat structure without partners, which gives you influence over the projects you carry out.
What is it like to work at Berenschot
You enjoy working at a top level for ministries, provinces, and municipalities. Especially in administratively and politically sensitive environments, you feel challenged to create overview and contribute to progress. You are sharp in your analysis and clear in your communication. You are result-oriented and you dare to speak your mind. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and can take a hint.
You take responsibility from day one: you are only satisfied when the team and the client are satisfied and a solution for the problem is in place. You feel ownership of your work, honor agreements, and hold others accountable to them as well. You get energy from progress and do not let yourself be easily knocked off course when interests clash or pressure increases. You are flexible and shift gears when necessary. When it succeeds, you celebrate that success too.
Typical of you:
You love tempo and dynamics.
You are proactive and take initiative.
You get things moving and bring people together.
You communicate clearly and persuasively.
You enjoy working towards concrete results.
And perhaps most importantly: you are eager to learn. We will teach you the profession and you will commit yourself to it fully.
Regarding background, we are broadly interested; for example, think of law, public administration, or political science, but data science, ecology, or biology are also relevant backgrounds. What we find more important is that you have demonstrable experience in the field of nature, agriculture, and/or nitrogen and that you want to commit yourself to the major issues surrounding these themes and find it exciting to work for governments.
At Berenschot, we offer you a unique commercial environment without shareholders or partners. This gives us much room and freedom to undertake and the opportunity to commit ourselves to important societal themes. Our informal culture is characteristic. Berenschot is a flat organization with short communication lines where you are truly listened to. There are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth where your initiative is embraced and facilitated. You have the freedom to undertake here. Our diverse and inclusive personnel policy embraces diversity and offers everyone equal opportunities.
Naturally, we also have excellent employment conditions and great development opportunities:
An attractive salary between € 3,889.-- € 6,582,- per month, depending on your experience.
With us, you also receive a representation allowance of € 1,500,- net per year, so that you can perform your duties optimally.
27 vacation days, with the possibility to purchase 20 additional vacation days with full-time employment.
A flexible holiday budget.
A regular collective profit-sharing scheme (depending on the company's results).
A laptop and phone.
A company car or a mobility budget.
An attractive pension scheme.
A one-year contract, with the absolute intention to offer you a permanent contract after one year.
The freedom to determine where and when you work, in consultation with your colleagues.
Internal and external training.
