Field Agronomist / Potato Cultivation Advisor

• You maintain and develop sustainable relationships with potato growers and serve as an accessible first point of contact for them regarding issues surrounding cultivation, harvest, storage, and supply quality.
• You monitor crop development, field conditions, and quality and yield expectations throughout the season and translate this information into advice for our growers.
• You support growers with practical cultivation decisions, harvest planning, storage strategies, and measures that contribute to quality, security of supply, and yield.
• You translate the needs of the grower, factory, and raw material planning into concrete field actions, while maintaining a balance between grower interests, factory demand, quality specifications, and commercial feasibility. Here, you will work closely with our new varieties manager.
• You develop, organize, and analyze field trials and ensure that new insights are quickly applicable in practice.

You will become part of the agronomy team within Aviko Agro. Together, you will ensure high-quality potatoes and build strong, sustainable relationships with growers and raw material partners. You will be given a lot of freedom and responsibility to shape your own work. You will regularly visit growers and fields and work closely with colleagues from procurement, field service, quality, and operations. You will also contribute to projects regarding quality, yield, and sustainability. No season and no day is the same.

You will work in an enthusiastic team with short lines, an informal atmosphere, and plenty of room for your own initiative. Your most important goal is to continuously improve the quality, yield, and security of supply of our potato supply together with growers. You combine agronomic knowledge with a practical and relationship-oriented approach. In this independent role, you will be given the space to actually set improvements in motion. You will work on diverse issues and achieve tangible results that are relevant to both growers and Aviko.

You are an agronomist or cultivation advisor who enjoys combining technical knowledge with personal contact and practical solutions. You are firmly established in the field, but you can also clearly communicate your insights to colleagues and other stakeholders.

Additionally:

• Do you have at least a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking, preferably in agriculture, agronomy, plant cultivation, or a similar field? A strong practical background in potato cultivation is at least as valuable.
• Do you have knowledge of potato cultivation, storage, and quality?
• Do you work in a data-driven manner: you can analyze field observations, cultivation data, trial results, and quality information and translate them into applicable advice?
• Do you have commercial insight and understand the economic considerations of growers? You know how to carefully connect their interests to factory demand, planning, and quality specifications.  
• Do you work independently and pragmatically and enjoy being with growers and on the fields?
• Do you communicate clearly and accessibly and build trust easily?
• Do you have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written?
