What you'll do

As a Road Safety Advisor, you will work independently on diverse road safety issues for public and private clients. You advise clients, lead projects, and translate complex issues into concrete and applicable solutions. Depending on your experience, you will receive significant responsibility for your own projects and client relationships. Additionally, you actively contribute to the further development and growth of our road safety practice. You:

  • build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients;
  • identify opportunities in the market and translate these into concrete assignments;
  • take initiative in preparing quotes and tenders;
  • are appropriately responsible for the substantive approach, planning, the team, and the budget.

In this way, you combine substantive expertise with project responsibility and commercial development.

Role description

The world of mobility is changing rapidly. We travel more, remain independently mobile for longer, and make use of increasingly smart and diverse types of vehicles. At the same time, road users remain vulnerable. This calls for adjustments to both infrastructure and behavior.

Together with our advisors and clients, we work on projects that contribute to safer infrastructure, vehicles, and traffic behavior in the Netherlands and beyond. Our approach aligns with the Strategic Road Safety Plan and combines a proactive approach with human factors and the use of data and tools, such as Floating Car Data, dashboards, and GIS. We work for, among others, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Rijkswaterstaat, provinces, and municipalities. Examples of recent projects include:

  • Road safety measures N14 for Rijkswaterstaat, including variant assessment, design, and cost estimation
  • Integrated mobility and road safety studies for Duiven and Westervoort
  • Road safety plan and mobility vision for the municipality of Hellendoorn
  • Road safety study N224 near Renswoude
  • Development of road safety measures for the intersections of the N248
  • Road safety inspections of provincial N-roads according to the RISM-II methodology
  • Further development of risk-driven road safety models, including Ongevalrisico.nl
  • Evaluation of the Strategic Road Safety Plan 2030 and advising on the recalibration of the national approach

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial advisor who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and comes up with creative solutions. You know how to engage clients in your approach, work goal-oriented, and communicate persuasively.

You possess:

  • HBO or WO working and thinking level;
  • several years of relevant work experience within road safety, mobility, or a similar advisory field;
  • experience with or affinity for independently executing and leading advisory projects;
  • knowledge of current national developments in the field of road safety;
  • intrinsic motivation to contribute to safer and more sustainable traffic;
  • an understanding of administrative and social interests and various stakeholders;
  • strong social and communication skills.

Experience with client relationships, quotes, and/or tenders is a plus.
