A completed HBO degree (for example, Mechanical Engineering, Operational Technology, or Marine Engineering, possibly supplemented with relevant training such as HIT or TVVL) or comparable professional and intellectual level.
At least three years of work experience advising on / designing mechanical building installations.
You can reduce complex situations to their core and can communicate about them concisely and clearly.
You listen and are open to alternative viewpoints and you know how to arrive at pragmatic solutions.
You switch easily between different tasks and you know how to distinguish well between main and secondary matters.
Collaborate on complex installations that keep the hospital running!
Do you want to work on technology that truly matters? In your role, you will work every day on a technically challenging and special hospital. Together with colleagues, you will ensure the installations behind complex functions such as operating rooms, laboratories, research facilities, the pharmacy, and cleanrooms. Installations that must function reliably 24/7 and thereby make an important contribution to the care and research of today and tomorrow. We do all this to better be able to treat cancer.
You will join an enthusiastic team within the Real Estate department. With 36 colleagues from various technical disciplines, we work together to ensure our buildings, installations, and facilities are safe, reliable, and future-proof. Your expertise is indispensable in this.
In projects, you are involved from the very first question in the setup and testing of feasibility. You consult with users regarding what is desired and you devise what is practically possible (conceptual design). You are involved in the design and realization phases as a sparring partner for external parties and you safeguard risks and quality.
As an Engineer / Advisor, you are the technical sparring partner and advisor to project leaders and users for your field of expertise. To achieve this, we work together in project teams and work project-based. You are responsible for the technical quality and managing the risks in your field of expertise. Your tasks are to:
Assess situations and installations on-site and propose improvement measures.
Translate user requirements into a technical PvE (Program of Requirements).
Identify technical risks.
Define and weigh solution directions, measures, and technical concepts.
Test the feasibility of intended activities.
Co-prepare requests for quotations to suppliers and their assessment.
Co-monitor the technical quality in the design and realization phases by assessing design proposals and realized work up to and including delivery.
Advise on the maintainability and future-proofing of installations.
Analyze complex malfunctions and advise on how to resolve them.
Request and check as-built drawings.
We work in teams. You work content-wise with colleague engineers in the fields of W (Water), E (Electricity), M&R (Mechanics & Robotics), energy management, and workplace concepts to arrive at smart and integrated solutions. You take the interests from maintenance and management into account integrally, and for this, you coordinate with the maintenance technicians.
In projects, you advise the project leaders. From a content perspective, you think along about planning aspects, risk management, cost estimates, and the necessary project information, such as drawings and delivery documents.
We work as much as possible based on policy frameworks or technical principles that we establish centrally: you develop and monitor technical standards, norms, and maintenance regulations. This means we do not have to reinvent the wheel every time. We translate library elements to the specific situation for all activities. This is how we work unambiguously and consistently.
And we work integrally. This means that you are responsible for both projects and maintenance work. You are a connecting link in this. You advise on the maintenance that must take place on installations and you dive into complex malfunctions, find out what is actually happening, and work with others to ensure a good solution.
The work essentially concerns all building installations: climate technology (HVAC), heat pumps, WKO (Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage), central heating boilers, medical gases, laboratory installations, sanitary/water, sprinklers, fire safety facilities, measurement & control technology, BMS, and monitoring (energy, sensors).
Sustainability is a serious challenge for us. Your advice on further sustainability is important in this regard. This concerns not only the efficiency of installations but also the entire installation and building concept.
Because here you experience technology up close and contribute directly to something important. You work on an enormous diversity of installations and buildings and get plenty of room to further develop your technical knowledge.
Moreover, you work in an environment where no two days are the same. Today you might work on the climate installation of an operating room, tomorrow on a WKO installation or a complex process installation. Meanwhile, you think strategically about the technical future of our buildings.
Your knowledge makes the difference. For our installations, for our colleagues, and ultimately for the care and research that takes place here.
At the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, we all want the same thing: to make a difference together in the world of cancer. Not a small thing. But not impossible. Here, science and care work together on innovation. Time and again, we find new ways that help people with cancer worldwide. Here we save lives, we win time and quality. Thanks to the latest technologies and especially thanks to our finest talents who are curious, precise, warm, determined, and team players.
You stand for the quality of the work and like to take responsibility for the content. At the same time, you are not dogmatic and are open to other viewpoints, where you also arrive at pragmatic and creative solutions that meet requirements. You get energy from a dynamic environment in which many issues play out simultaneously.
The basis for your terms of employment is in accordance with the Cao Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals). You will receive from us:
A one-year contract for 32 - 36 hours per week, with a view to a permanent contract.
A gross monthly salary between € 4,246.00 and € 6,220.00 based on a 36-hour work week, matching FWG 60 and depending on your experience.

An active staff association and Young AVL: associations that organize sporting, cultural, and creative activities and events.
An employer contribution of 50% towards your pension at Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn and collective discounts with health insurers IZZ, Zorg en Zekerheid, and Zilveren Kruis.
