BI Engineer

• A completed higher professional education (HBO) in the field of (technical) informatics or a similar program. 

• At least 1-3 years of work experience as a BI Developer, Data Engineer, or in a comparable role

• Knowledge of modeling techniques such as Kimball. 

• Knowledge of SQL Server and writing advanced queries. 

• Experience with designing, building, and optimizing ETL processes. 

• Preferably knowledge of Fabric, DBT, PowerBI, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, and experience or affinity with AI applications and data platform architecture. 

• You have a growth mindset and improve where possible, ensuring that you and the team continue to grow (technically). 

• Communicatively skilled and able to translate technical concepts into understandable language for various stakeholders. 

• The salary for this position is between €5,005.- and €6,256.- gross per month (based on 40 hours)*, excluding 8% holiday allowance. The exact salary depends on your knowledge, level, and work experience.

• On top of salary comes a fixed amount for the Sustainable Employability Budget for things that contribute to staying healthy and motivated (2.3% according to the Bouw & Infra collective labor agreement).

• With an eye on a long-term relationship, we offer you an indefinite contract immediately.

• 43 leave days according to the Bouw & Infra collective labor agreement. Of these days, 13 are paid out in your individual budget; you can choose to buy these days back;

As a BI Engineer at Dura Vermeer, you are the technical brain behind our Business Intelligence environment. You design smart data solutions, help build a future-proof BI landscape, and help colleagues throughout the organization to make better-informed decisions.

In this role, you play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing our Business Intelligence environment. You develop data models and BI structures that ensure reliable, understandable, and directly applicable insights for the business. Together with your colleagues, you translate data into valuable products that contribute to better management, smarter processes, and more data-driven working within Dura Vermeer.

An important part of your work is the further development towards a self-service BI environment. You make it possible for business units to perform analyses independently and build their own reports and dashboards. You do this by developing standardized, well-managed data models and sharing knowledge with users. In this way, you contribute to data democratization: making valuable insights available to everyone who needs them.

You design, build, and maintain BI models that align with the needs of various business units. In doing so, performance, ease of use, and reliability are central. You monitor data quality and work according to standards and best practices in the fields of data integrity, modeling, and management. This ensures that reports and dashboards are based on a single source of truth.

Additionally, you stay up to date with developments within Microsoft Fabric, DBT, DAX, Business Intelligence, and AI in a broad sense. You investigate how new possibilities, including AI applications, can make our work faster, smarter, and better, and apply these in practice wherever possible. You contribute to an AI-ready data platform: a scalable, reliable, and well-structured data environment that is ready for future AI solutions. In doing so, you actively participate in thinking about configuration issues, data modeling, and architectural choices. You work closely with colleagues from the business, listen to their questions, and translate their goals into smart, scalable BI and data solutions. You identify bottlenecks in data models and reports, improve loading times and user experiences, and ensure clear documentation of data flows, models, and reports.
