The role

This is what you will do as a Low Code Mendix Developer As a Mendix developer, you will primarily work in a team environment on various projects within NS. You will be part of the team for Mendix projects within the Competence Center Mobile. You will work in complex environments, with state-of-the-art technologies and demanding end users. The work is varied and challenging: for example, you will be hands-on involved in building new innovative solutions for, among others, NS Commerce and Network & Operations. In doing so, you will focus on developing applications and will also be responsible for integrations with, for example, SAP systems and other applications. You are a strong communicator, which allows you to discuss wishes directly with your customers, and subsequently translate those wishes into smart solutions. You are therefore not just a developer, but also a good business analyst. You work in a DevOps team, which means "you build it, you run it, you love it". The applications you create, you will manage together with your other team members. Naturally, you can provide your customers with the most recent information about the Low Code platform, because you keep your knowledge well up to date. Together with us, you will make traveling by train even better and more enjoyable for our travelers. Every single day. The journey of tomorrow starts with you!

What you'll do

As a true Business Engineer, you operate at the intersection of Developer, Information Analyst, and Business Analyst; You develop innovative front-end applications using the Low Code Mendix platform; You develop integrations between Low-code and backend systems such as SAP or other applications; You advise on the possibilities of the Low Code Mendix platform; You work iteratively and maintain close contact with users to develop the best solutions; You go through the entire process: from design to implementation of applications; You manage the delivered applications. This is where it happens Together with the Competence Center Integration (CCI), the Competence Center Mobile (CCM) forms a department that can unlock information from NS systems in an agile manner and present it in a user-friendly way - on any device. As a result, our colleagues can increasingly easily access information, regardless of time and place, which helps them put the traveler in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We develop in short iterations, so that we can quickly test with the users of our software whether our solutions add value. The department shares acquired knowledge and experience with other departments. This creates an 'oil slick effect': everyone who wants to is helped and can help themselves to make information accessible to everyone. Due to these activities, an 'onboarding' routine has also emerged to quickly adopt new technologies (for example, RPA, Process mining, Kafka) and, together with our technical domain architects and our infrastructure specialists, transform these technologies into a usable platform. This allows our IT organization to gain access to these technologies more quickly. CCM and CCI are currently housed in Amersfoort. The intention is that these departments will get a place in the head office in Utrecht at the beginning of 2020. CCM and CCI also realize applications for mission-critical functions. This means that, where applicable, you will participate in on-call shifts. What you bring You have a completed IT-related or technical education at HBO or WO level; You have at least one year of experience with developing Mendix applications and the Advanced Developer certificate is a plus; Experience with designing, building, and implementing applications in a dynamic organization; You have knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL; Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Devops is a plus; You are willing to resolve any production disruptions on the weekend (very sporadic); You are available five days a week for NS; You have experience with the application of the Agile/scrum methodology. In addition, you possess: Good oral and written communication in Dutch and English; Excellent analytical skills. You are able to translate complex problems into (technical) solutions; You are good at maintaining contact with stakeholders to create the best products together; An ambitious and eager-to-learn attitude; A flexible attitude, dynamism, and decisiveness; Quality orientation/accuracy and the ability to work methodically; Sense of responsibility and perseverance; You find it important to want to continuously improve together with others; You feel most comfortable in an Agile/Lean/DevOps environment.
