The role
Merchandising forms the connecting link between our Design and Buying departments, which develop the collections, and our stores and webshop where we sell the collections. Based on our analyses, for example, we determine how many products we purchase and what the distribution will be between online and physical sales. For this, we have implemented a super smart and state-of-the-art planning & allocation system; TXT. Together with colleagues from Merchandising, Retail Operations, Finance, Sales and Buying, you ensure an optimal Retail process. And you have a direct impact on the success of WE by using your data analyses, advice and ideas to ensure that we make the best commercial choices. As a Merchandiser, you will become part of an innovative Merchandising team. A data-driven team that works every day on the maximum return of our collections.
Merchandising forms the connecting link between our Design and Buying departments, which develop the collections, and our stores and webshop, where we sell the collections.
You are responsible for your own product group, for which you draw up a business plan based on your own analyses and in collaboration with the buyer. The business plan includes the product choice, assortment size, selling prices, margins, purchase quantities and possible opportunities and threats.
As a Merchandiser, you determine the distribution between online channels, both for our own channel as well as for the various online partners we work with, and the physical sales in the stores.
You analyze sales results and adjust them where necessary. In this way, you ensure that stock objectives are met and profitability is maximized.
What you'll do
- Preparing and presenting your business plan; you do this together with a Buyer. You together assemble the right assortment, look at product choice and assortment size, determine selling prices, margins and purchase quantities, and identify and quantify opportunities and threats for your product groups.
- In-season adjustments. You analyze the sales results and provide advice on how we are going to achieve objectives and which choices we must make for this.
- Performing analyses of financial trends, thinking of sales, markdowns, profit margins, pricing and promotions.
- Monitoring the budget and the items in our stores, after which you inform management about the progress, opportunities and preparations within your budgets and advise on steps to be taken.
- Managing pricing. You make identifications for markdowns and promotions with the aim of achieving the agreed stock levels, while also maximizing overall profitability.
- In collaboration with the Junior Merchandiser, you proactively manage and anticipate overall stock levels and draw up an allocation plan to ensure that the allocation and replenishment maximizes the sales potential of a specific channel, country or style.
- Finally, you contribute to the coaching and training of the Junior Merchandisers and, together with your colleagues, work on providing suggestions for improvements to current or future systems.
