Merchandise Financial Planner Essentials

As a Merchandise Financial Planner, you are responsible for the financial planning and control of a medium-sized package within Essentials: an assortment with many options and SKUs, a relatively stable character, and few seasonal items. Together with the Category Manager, you translate the category strategy into a substantiated financial plan for turnover, margin, stock, and open-to-buy, per period, channel, and subcategory. You determine the right assortment mix and draw up purchasing budgets and the intake plan, in coordination with stock planning.

During the season, you monitor sales, margin, and stock, keep the WSSI up-to-date, and adjust the forecast. Do you see deviations? Then you come up with proposals, such as utilizing open-to-buy or reducing stock via markdowns. You monitor the financial frameworks for stock planning, assess the impact of promotions, and use scenario analyses to make the implications of choices in assortment or price transparent.

You work according to the plan and in close consultation with the Manager Merchandise Financial Planning, to whom you report. In this way, you continue to build your craftsmanship and grow towards a larger, more complex category.

You are commercially and analytically strong. You translate choices in assortment, price, and promotion into turnover, margin, and stock, and you substantiate your plans and assumptions with figures. You take ownership of the quality of your analyses, signal deviations and risks in time, and sound the alarm if something falls outside the frameworks. You proactively share insights and enjoy collaborating with colleagues in the chain.

• A completed HBO or WO degree, preferably in Business Economics, Econometrics, Supply Chain Management, or Retail Management;
• 2 to 4 years of experience as a Merchandise Planner, Demand Planner, or Category Analyst, preferably in retail with multiple sales channels;
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and data analysis, and experience with planning systems and BI tools such as Power BI or SAP;
• Experience collaborating in a cross-functional environment with Category Management, Purchasing, and Supply Chain.
