The role
The role
As a Mechanical System Architect, you are responsible for establishing and monitoring the mechanical system architecture within complex development projects. You form the bridge between customer requirements, systems thinking, and the practical implementation in modules and components.
What you'll do
You work closely with colleagues from mechanics, electronics, software, production, and project teams. In doing so, you ensure that choices are technically sound, feasible, and fit within the set constraints such as time and cost. Your activities also consist of:
- Translating customer and system requirements into a consistent mechanical architecture
- Drafting and monitoring system and module specifications
- Making technical considerations and performing trade-off studies
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Supporting engineers with complex design problems
- Recording and maintaining design choices and architecture documentation
- Thinking along about technological choices and system roadmaps
- Contributing to knowledge building and further development of the mechanics competence
