The role
Our radar software features an extensive, modular architecture upon which multiple Agile teams work simultaneously to further develop and improve the software. As a Processing Software Integrator, you monitor the cohesion between these modules. You integrate and test the software from the various modules and ensure that they connect seamlessly, resulting in a reliable radar system. In this role, you work across team and module boundaries; you understand the technical dependencies within the software landscape and see through how the various modules are interconnected.
What you'll do
• Integrating and validating software modules within our complex real-time radar processing systems;
• Analyzing integration issues and proposing structural solutions for complex software integration problems;
• Setting up and maintaining build, integration, and deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Maven, and Nexus;
• Assessing the impact of software changes and monitoring the technical quality and stability of the integrated software;
• Collaborating closely with engineers and testers from different Scrum teams.
We utilize a hybrid work model, where 60% of the time is worked in the office and 40% remotely. Given the close collaboration and the nature of testing radar software in this position, however, a higher presence in the office is preferred. We offer flexible working hours and you will receive a great deal of trust and freedom in the way you organize your work week.

Processing Software Integrator
Hengelo | Hybrid | 32-40 hours per week | Bachelor's/Master's degree (HBO/WO)
Thales designs advanced radar systems and optical sensors that form part of a comprehensive, integrated defense system. The product portfolio ranges from small, portable radars (e.g., for applications such as border or terrain surveillance) to complex four-dimensional radars capable of detecting small objects at distances of hundreds to thousands of kilometers.
Within the software department, the 'Radar Core Processing' group is responsible for the development of software that ensures optimal control and digital processing functions within the sensors. Work is carried out in multidisciplinary teams, together with specialists in the fields of systems engineering, functional sensor design, and the design and implementation of real-time systems.
The 'Radar Core Processing' group develops the complete radar software. This includes various domains, such as the control of the radar system, the coordination of radar transmissions, and the processing of digital data streams. The ultimate goal is the detection, classification, and tracking of specific objects, such as aircraft and drones, and displaying them on an operator console.
The software architecture is designed in a highly modular way, which supports the development of robust and evolvable systems. Development takes place in Agile teams, supported by a modern development pipeline. The teams are themselves responsible for the continuous development and maintenance of the architecture, the development pipeline, and the Agile process.
Curious about our technology?
Do you want to see where our software eventually ends up? The Dutch television program 'Het Klokhuis' has recorded an episode with us in which it explains how radar works and how our technology is applied. Watch the episode here: https://hetklokhuis.nl/tv-uitzending/5579/radar.
Additionally, Luke - one of our C++ Software Engineers - tells about his work within our radar domain. He works on one of the software building blocks that ultimately form the complete radar system together. Interested?
Do you have extensive experience as a Software Engineer or Software Integrator, and do you get energy from understanding how the complete software system of a radar is put together? Then we would love to hear from you.
Even if Hengelo is not exactly around the corner from you, we would love to discuss the possibilities - for example, we can offer support with a potential relocation.
