  • Experience with continuous improvement programs and performance management

The role

For DSL-01 in Delfzijl, we are looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor who will help build the operation starting from the preparation phase. Someone who thinks along about procedures, the preparation of commissioning and startup, and helps prepare operators for the moment the installation actually goes live. DSL-01 will be a large-scale production facility for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and by-products.

What you'll do

As Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in the safe, stable, and efficient operation of DSL-01. In this position, you will receive a unique combination of project work and operational responsibility. During the current project phase, you will actively contribute to the preparation of plant operations, commissioning, and startup while working day shifts. Once DSL-01 is operational, planned from spring 2028, you will lead a team of operators (in shift work) and be responsible for the daily management of a complex chemical production installation.

You will ensure that production, quality, safety, and environmental objectives are met and will take charge when deviations, malfunctions, or emergencies occur. In doing so, you will work closely with colleagues from Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and HSES.

What makes this role special is that you are not joining an existing organization, but helping to build the operation, production, and way of working from the very beginning.

During the project and startup phase (~1.5 years):

  • You will work day shifts

  • You will contribute to the commissioning and startup of DSL-01

  • You will develop procedures and work instructions

  • You will play an important role in executing training programs and training operators

  • You will support the buildup of the operational organization

  • You will ensure a successful preparation for the start of the plant.

In the operational phase (from mid-2028):

  • You will lead a team of approximately 8 operators in a 5-shift rotation within a continuous production process.

  • You will safeguard the safe and efficient production of SAF, propane, butane, and naphtha.

  • You will monitor process performance via DCS and MES systems, adjust where necessary, and ensure that production, quality, and yield objectives are realized.

Additionally, you will be responsible for complying with safety, environmental, and quality standards, take charge during incidents and emergencies, and coordinate activities between Operations, Maintenance, and other involved disciplines. You will also play an active role in the continuous improvement of processes and further strengthening the safety culture within the plant.

An important part of your role is the development of the operational team. You are responsible for the growth of operators, both technically and in competencies such as collaboration, ownership, and safety awareness. Through coaching, guidance, and clear expectations, you will ensure a strong team that can operate safely, effectively, and with confidence.

Your profile

SkyNRG is a growing organization in a rapidly evolving market. Therefore, we are looking for people who feel comfortable in an environment where not everything is yet fixed and who want to actively contribute to the further buildup of the organization.

You take responsibility, think ahead, and feel at home in an environment that is constantly in motion.

You recognize yourself in the following:

  • Experience and affinity with Process Technology, Chemical Technology, or a similar field

About DSL-01

In Delfzijl, we are building DSL-01, a SkyNRG plant for renewable fuels. Here, we produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from waste streams such as used fats and oils, using HEFA technology. Additionally, we produce by-products such as butane, propane, and naphtha.

DSL-01 will be the first plant in Europe fully focused on SAF and associated sustainable by-products. Once the plant is operational, we will produce 100,000 tons of SAF and 35,000 tons of by-products annually. With this, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 80% compared to fossil kerosene, measured across the entire chain.

Construction started in 2026 and the first production is planned for 2028. The project includes the plant itself, associated pipelines, and temporary work sites. You will contribute directly to the realization of a new industrial plant and the sustainability of aviation.

We work according to international standards and Dutch laws and regulations to carefully manage the impact on people, nature, and the environment. Safety, sustainability, and collaboration are central to this.

Why this role?

This position offers an opportunity that very few operators and shift supervisors receive. From an early stage, you will be involved in the realization of a completely new plant and can use your operational expertise to exert influence on commissioning, procedures, training, and the ultimate way of working.

After the startup, you will make the step to an operational environment in which you lead a modern production installation and play an important role in establishing the standards, culture, and performance of the plant.

At the same time, you will contribute directly to the realization of one of Europe's first large-scale SAF plants. A unique opportunity to help build a new production organization and make a tangible contribution to the sustainability of aviation.

NB: For the buildup of the operational organization, we are ultimately looking for five Shift Supervisors. The first two Supervisors will start during the project and startup phase of DSL-01. The remaining three positions are expected to be filled in the spring, so that the full team is ready for the operational phase.

Apply

Do you want to work towards the successful realization of a new plant and see the result of your work in practice? Then this is your chance to contribute to the development of sustainable aviation.

NB: A medical examination is part of the selection procedure for this position due to safety and health reasons.
