The role
You will be part of the Corporate Communications & CSR team: a small, ambitious team responsible for building and protecting Odido's reputation. The team maintains relationships with media, stakeholders, and societal partners and ensures that Odido is visible with the right stories, at the right moments.
As Senior External Communications & Media Relations Manager, you will play a key role in strategically positioning and protecting Odido's reputation. You will develop communication and media strategies, build sustainable relationships with journalists and other influential stakeholders, and advise senior management and the Executive Committee on media, reputation, and communication issues.
You oversee the bigger picture, anticipate developments, and take initiative when topics could impact our reputation. In doing so, you work closely with colleagues from across the organization and provide direction to communication projects with high visibility.
What you'll do
In this role:
- you develop and implement Odido's external communication and media strategy;
- you initiate and lead communication projects that contribute to Odido's reputation and positioning;
- you build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media, opinion leaders, and other relevant stakeholders;
- you are the first point of contact for media and act as a spokesperson on behalf of Odido;
- you advise the Head of Corporate Communications & CSR, senior management, and the Executive Committee on communication, media, and reputation issues;
- you collaborate with teams throughout the organization to keep communication aligned with the business strategy;
- you work closely with the Corporate Content Lead and Social Sustainability Manager to ensure a consistent and strong external profile;
- you translate data, analyses, and market developments into concrete communication and media strategies;
- you research and utilize AI applications to make media monitoring, analysis, and content creation smarter and more efficient;
- you participate in the Reputation Committee and play an active role in issue and crisis management;
- you are available to contribute to crisis communication outside of office hours when necessary.
What makes this role special
At Odido, you are active at the intersection of media, society, technology, and reputation. You work on topics that can be visible daily in national media and have a direct influence on how customers, partners, employees, and other stakeholders view Odido.
You will be given plenty of room to take ownership, start initiatives, and make an impact. In doing so, you work directly with senior leaders within the organization and play an important role in how Odido tells its story and further strengthens its reputation.
Together we are
We want to become the most people-oriented telecom provider in the Netherlands. That ambition begins from within. With an organization that takes its own people seriously, provides sharp advice, is legally sound, and tells a story that rings true. You work on that foundation. Not in the spotlight, but with direct influence on how Odido behaves, how we make decisions, and how we present ourselves as an employer and as a company. Because when it is right on the inside, it can also be right on the outside.
Here is what we stand for
At Odido, we are there for each other. We see each other's talents. We always listen and look at what is possible. Because you are at your best when you can grow, you get all the space for that at Odido. Together, we look at where your ambition and talent lie and ensure that you get the opportunities to grow in your own way. Whether that is professional deepening, a broader role, or a step towards leadership.
What you bring
You are an experienced communications professional who switches effortlessly between strategy and execution. You understand how reputation is built, know how media works, and are a strong interlocutor for senior leaders. You combine organizational sensitivity with decisiveness and dare to provide direction when necessary.
In addition, you have:
- a completed bachelor's or master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Corporate Communications, or a similar field;
- extensive experience in external communications, media relations, corporate communications, or reputation management;
- experience advising senior management and board members;
- a strong network within the Dutch media landscape or the ability to build one quickly;
- experience with issue and crisis communication;
- a sharp sense for societal, political, and reputation-sensitive developments;
- experience in developing and executing strategic communication plans;
- an affinity with data, media analysis, and new technologies such as AI;
- excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
When do you fit with us (and when not)?
We are all different, and that is exactly what makes us strong. At the same time, there are a few things that many Odido colleagues have in common.
You feel at home in an environment that is constantly in motion. The world of communication changes quickly; and we move along every day. That doesn't always have to be perfect, as long as you are open to it.
Curiosity helps you with that. Interest in technology and in what is happening in our market makes it more fun and easier to find your way.
Do you recognize yourself in this? Then it might just click.
