Our team
NOS Digitale Media is innovative. We create leading sites and apps. Every day. For a large audience. We do this with an enthusiastic team of about 45 passionate professionals: backend and frontend engineers, iOS and Android engineers, UX designers, visual designers, product owners, and data specialists.
What binds us is our creativity and ingenuity. We are immensely proud to work for one of the largest independent news organizations in the Netherlands and to actively contribute to new developments in the media landscape.
What is occupying us at the moment
The team members of our Backend team - Brian, Ferry, Nino, Quenten, Suard, and Tim - say:
Recently, we have been working hard on migrating our static content to a new, custom-built CDN. Naturally, we have also supported our frontend teams in this.
Additionally, we are working on improving our availability during DDoS attacks and the security of our applications. Using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, we try to detect problems before they affect our users.
We analyze the performance of various caches to ensure that our website visitors and app users are the first to be informed of the latest news.
In the coming year, we will be working on further modernizing the architecture of our platform. We want to improve the developer experience and shorten release cycles, so we can bring new features to the public even faster. We will, of course, also be helping to build those new features ourselves.
Why we love working here
Work that matters
We work for one of the largest independent news organizations in the Netherlands. That is something that gives us energy. Whether it is the NOS app, Teletekst, or the Jeugdjournaal app, your work is for and by everyone.
Investing in development
We offer plenty of room to learn and do new things. For example, you can follow a course or attend conferences or meetups that inspire you.
Our tech stack and tools
What you bring
This is quite a list. If you do not meet all the points yet, but you do want to develop yourself in them, please let us know anyway! Please also mention this in your motivation.
