The role

That is why you want to work as a Senior Electrical Engineering Engineer at NS

What you'll do

  • Because you work on tangible technology: from circuit boards, displays, and input modules to inverters, cables, motors, and other electrical train components.
  • Because you are the link between engineering and production: you analyze the technical question, make the process executable, and help colleagues to overhaul complex components correctly the first time.
  • Because you work in a versatile technical environment where you grow into a knowledge carrier and the technical conscience of the Electrical Engineering department.

In this role, you dive into the technology behind train components.
You investigate what is needed to overhaul a component reliably, determine what the work process should look like, and ensure that production colleagues can get to work with clear instructions, tools, and technical documentation. Think of

  • Electronic components such as PLCs, circuit boards, displays, input modules, and cassettes.
  • Fast switches, inverters, panels, cables, shaft encoders, fans, and traction motors

Your core activities as a Senior Engineer focus on the specification, setup, control, and improvement of overhaul processes for train components.

You coordinate technical projects, translate customer requests into overhaul specifications and a robust production process, work documents, and production tools, and additionally, you support fellow mechanics and engineers during execution.

Additionally, you contribute to knowledge development, documentation, process optimization, safety, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

In your work, you look not only at what needs to be made or repaired, but also at testability, reproducibility, safety, lead time, and quality.

Concretely, this means you:

  • assesses, supplements, and translates configuration information into clear technical principles;
  • designs and specifies special production tools, tooling, test setups, and working methods;
  • goes through PTO and TO and drafts, checks, and improves process-supporting documents;
  • supports production colleagues with technical issues and thinks along about structural improvements.

Through your knowledge of electrical engineering, analytical skills, and curiosity, you will grow into a knowledge carrier of the components overhauled within the NS Component Company (NCB). You work closely with fellow system engineers, purchasers, maintenance engineers, and configuration engineers from NS Techniek in Utrecht.
In this way, you connect design, maintenance, production, and practice.

Where you will work

The NS Component Company (NCB) in Berkel-Enschot is the place where train components receive a second technical life. Here, a wide range of components are repaired and overhauled: from large and complex systems such as pantographs and compressors to smaller parts such as emergency brake pulls. The production departments specialize in pneumatics, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Together, we ensure that components function as if they were new after an overhaul. Quality, safety, and short lead times are central to this.

You work in day shifts from 08:00 to 16:30 at the location in Berkel-Enschot, right in the middle of a technical production environment where engineering and execution are closely linked.
