The role
Additional information
- Because you ensure that the necessary electromechanical designs are ready on time.
- Because you contribute to the comfort in the trains for our passengers.
- Because you will come to work in a fun and sociable team that helps each other make the best designs for NS trains.
This is what you will do as an Electromechanical Engineer
Most of the activities that you perform as an electromechanical engineer at NS are focused on the integration of electromechanical designs into the train. As a result, you will come into contact with a great diversity of technologies.
- From applied techniques that are sometimes 40 years old to (nearly) "state of the art".
- Fully relay-controlled controls exist alongside CAN buses and PLC-controlled door controls.
- In the train, everything is present that you need to get from 1500 VDC to a power outlet, a USB power supply, or a three-phase motor in a safe manner.
- You will find mobile communication, intelligent lighting concepts, diagnostic systems, and train protection there.
- And all of this safely designed for NS trains.
In short; a wide spectrum of technologies!
Our projects increase, among other things, the comfort for the passenger and contribute to making the train more sustainable by reducing energy consumption.
Your role will be to oversee the mechanical aspects for the solutions that your electrical engineering colleagues devise. Think of the safe routing of HS cabling or the placement of electrical equipment in or on the train. Our trains are therefore well maintained.
Every day our people work hard to modernize our trains, overhaul them, repair damage, or implement construction changes. And as an engineer, you are co-responsible for the creation of the (electromechanical) design of changes to the trains to be modernized. With this, you achieve success.
Thanks in part to your expertise, you are of invaluable importance in:
- Ensuring that the designs comply with laws/regulations regarding requirements/standards and the functional specifications of the customer.
- Design work and coordination with your suppliers for correct fitting and acceptance of systems.
- Advising and guiding production during complex problems. Carrying out complex technical investigations.
- Mastering the time, costs, and quality of your own work package.
- Designing in 3D and 2D using the Siemens NX application.
- Directing and guiding designers.
Where you will work
You will work at NS Train Modernization in Haarlem, in the Engineering department within the Power Supply product group. Here, approximately 70 engineers work every day on the preparation and execution of tangible projects.
You do this by converting the customer's request into implementable technology for modernizations, changes, or (large) overhauls and maintenance in a project-based manner.
These are the job requirements
- A completed HBO/WO degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
- The greater your affinity with electrical engineering, the better.
- Experience within a complex design environment in a comparable sector.
- Work experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and 3D CAD programs, preferably Siemens NX
- Experience with Scrum and/or Agile methodology
- Experience in directing designers and advising project management.
- A VCA diploma or willingness to obtain one.
- Proficiency in the English and German (pre) language in speech and writing.
- For this position, a good command (minimum B-level) of the Dutch language is required.
For this position its mandatory to speak/read/write Dutch at a B-Level.
