Junior Operator

LyondellBasell is a leader in the global chemical industry, creating solutions for the everyday sustainable life that our site in Geleen is a part of. Geleen site is a dynamic organization, founded in 2014 by 3 entrepreneurs with a conviction to do things differently when it comes to recycling: the large-scale replacement of polymers produced from oil or gas. They saw a wonderful opportunity to sustainably process plastic waste by developing the same quality as classic polymers.
Today, our plant is a thriving organization of +/- 70 employees. Sustainability and responsible entrepreneurship are central to this. For instance, the site is OCS (Operation Clean Sweep) certified. This means that we try to prevent the wasting/leakage of plastics as much as possible and clean up as quickly as possible to prevent them from entering nature.

As a Junior Operator, you will learn step by step how the production process works and how installations are operated safely and correctly. You will follow a practice-oriented training program and work together with experienced colleagues who will guide you in your development within the operator profession.
The focus lies on working safely according to Goal Zero, ensuring the quality of process and product, and good cooperation within the shift. By gaining practical experience and following training, you will grow towards performing tasks independently and prepare yourself for career progression to the position of Operator.
As a Junior Operator, you are motivated to learn the trade and are open to guidance. You do not need to have experience yet, but you are willing to roll up your sleeves, ask questions, and get better every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES
o Following and completing onboarding and safety training;
o Contributing to the task book and achieving basic skills;
o Actively learning from colleagues and asking questions;
o Asking for feedback from buddy/mentor;
o Rotating through different shifts;
o Demonstrating that you are growing in knowledge and skills.

TASKS
Production process (under guidance)
o Supporting the operation and monitoring of installations;
o Learning to recognize deviations in the process;
o Assisting in resolving simple malfunctions;
o Performing assigned tasks in production;
o Reacting correctly to instructions during disruptions.

Maintenance (under guidance)
o Helping with simple maintenance tasks;
o Assisting Maintenance or contractors;
o Supporting the preparation of installations for maintenance;
o Ensuring that materials and tools are available.

Safety
o Working safely and paying attention to your own safety and that of others;
o Learning to perform LMRA's;
o Getting acquainted with LOTO procedures;
o Following mandatory safety training;
o Reporting unsafe situations and/or incidents.

Collaboration & communication
o Collaborating with colleagues within the shift;
o Listening to instructions and following them;
o Giving simple handovers with the help of colleagues;
o Reporting problems or specifics in a timely manner;
o Learning when help should be called in.

o You possess an MBO diploma, or MBO level obtained through experience in the direction of Process Technology or Vapro;
o Interest in technology or production processes;
o Willingness to learn and develop yourself;
o You possess the following certificates or are willing to obtain them: Forklift Aerial Work Platform, Safe Lifting, BMC/Sprinkler, VCA Basic, and VOP;
o You master the Dutch language in speech and writing;
o Affinity with sustainability is a plus.
