The role

Job type: Regular
Location: Schiphol Oost
Hours per week: 40
Education level: Mbo
Apply until: 31-12-2026

In short

The world is at your feet as a certified aircraft engine technician at KLM. You maintain, overhaul, and modify aircraft engines and individual components. It is also your task to certify them. Because you already have experience, you are an example for beginning technicians. This gives you the chance to exceed your own limits and help colleagues progress. Every single day.

What will you do?

When a broken aircraft engine enters the Engine Shop, you assess its condition. You disassemble the engine and inspect all individual components. What needs to be replaced and what material is required for that? If necessary, you consult with a specialist. After the repair, you check whether everything has been delivered according to the module, and you prepare the repaired engine for shipment. Additionally, you supervise new colleagues: you teach them the tricks of the trade and ensure they can work independently as quickly as possible.

Additionally:

  • you test the engine for internal damage and signal any deviations;
  • you work with various engine types;
  • you always keep the customer's wish in mind;
  • you report daily to the team lead and the lead mechanic Engine Shop;
  • you perform administrative tasks;
  • you adhere to safety regulations.

Where will you land?

You will join Engine Services, part of Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). There, we not only maintain our own aircraft but also those of customers worldwide. You will work in the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) department, in a team of about twenty colleagues. You will work in shift patterns, consisting of one week of day shifts and one week of evening shifts. We are increasingly using digital tools in our department, which help us work smarter and faster. Your profile

Wrenching on large and small parts all day long? That is certainly for you. Even better: you are a true technician and enjoy working with your hands. You work quickly, but precisely: you always notice any mistakes immediately. Furthermore, you have a great sense of responsibility and find it important that you and your team can work safely. You also address colleagues if they do not follow the regulations. Additionally, you enjoy sharing your experience with beginning technicians and helping them on their way within the department.

Furthermore:

  • you have an authorization for aircraft engine maintenance;
  • you can work independently and sign off work;
  • you speak and understand (technical) English well;
  • you have worked as an engine technician for at least three years;
  • you are familiar with engine types CFM56-7B, CF6, GEnx and LEAP.

What do we offer?

  • A gross salary between €3,133.89 and €4,141.22 gross per month;
  • Plenty of room for personal development and great growth opportunities;
  • Shift allowance;
  • An excellent pension scheme and 8% holiday allowance;
  • An end-of-year bonus of 8.33%;
  • A profit-sharing scheme, up to 20%;
  • 25 vacation days and 7 extra free days;
  • Significant discount on flight tickets (if you have been employed for at least 6 months);
  • A sustainable transport policy, including 100% free travel to work via Public Transport (within the Netherlands);
  • 2% discretionary development budget.
