The role

Do you prefer working outside rather than in an office? As a Field Worker at Fugro, you will work together with colleagues at project locations throughout the Netherlands. You will perform various types of soil investigations for construction projects, roads, bridges, dikes, and other infrastructure.

You perform hand borings, assist with cone penetration tests, collect soil samples, and work with drilling and measuring equipment. With the data that you collect, we map out the bearing capacity and composition of the soil. In this way, you make an important contribution to projects that must be built safely and responsibly.

You usually depart early from Nootdorp (between 05:30 and 06:30 AM) to project locations throughout the Netherlands. You work outdoors, are constantly on the move, and no two days are the same. Depending on the project, a working day lasts on average 8 to 12 hours. Sometimes you will stay at a location in a hotel for several days. Naturally, we arrange and pay for this.

What you'll do

  • Performing soil investigations at project locations;
  • Working with measuring equipment and machines;
  • Collecting soil samples;
  • Recording investigation data;
  • Collaborating with colleagues on location.

Training and career growth

No experience? No problem. We will teach you the trade in practice. You will shadow experienced colleagues and receive more responsibility step by step. We are primarily looking for someone who wants to work, wants to learn, and honors agreements.

Do you take to the work well? Then we offer you development opportunities, such as being able to obtain your C driver's license. Many colleagues start as Field Workers and grow into Assistant Driller, Driller, or CPT Supervisor.

About Fugro

Before a road, bridge, dike, building, or wind farm is constructed, it must first be investigated what lies beneath the ground. That is where Fugro comes into play. Our field workers, drillers, and CPT supervisors collect soil data at project locations throughout the Netherlands. With this information, clients can build safely and responsibly. The work that you perform outdoors forms the basis for important construction and infrastructure projects.
