The role

DFDS - WE MOVE FOR ALL TO GROW

Would you like to be part of an appreciated team within our organization? And are you looking for a position in which you can shape our company together with the team? If so, then you could just be our newest addition to our team as a Trailer Mechanic!

DFDS is large in road, air, and sea transport as well as the countless logistical services that go hand in hand with this. Think, for example, of customs services, packaging, warehousing, cross-docking, and much more. By being able to offer a total solution to our customers, we change the way of transporting and remain the logistical movement of Europe.

From its founding in 1866 until now, DFDS has grown enormously. We now have more than 11,000 employees and together we connect more than 20 countries. We ensure that Europe never stands still. Becoming part of our team therefore means having an impact. Everyone who works with us works towards our common drive: "we move for all to grow".

Be part of the movement and play your part!

As a Trailer Mechanic, you ensure that the daily course of business in the workshop runs smoothly and that the fleet is and remains in optimal condition. In the workshop, all maintenance of the fleet is carried out in-house. Your duties as a mechanic consist of, among other things, performing repair and maintenance work on semi-trailers. Additionally, new vehicles are prepared for delivery in our workshop, and you also handle the administrative processing and registration of this work. In short, you are a true all-rounder.

DFDS Nijmegen is the specialist in the field of transport of temperature-controlled foodstuffs to and from the United Kingdom, France, Benelux, and Northern Ireland, and the resulting services, such as our packaging concepts, storage, and transshipment. DFDS Nijmegen therefore offers a total package, with which all links within the logistics chain can be taken over. Caring for the end product of our client is the starting point of our logistical services.

Our colleagues are working 24/7 to transport goods, which you also encounter daily in supermarkets, from A to B. But as you can read above, we do much more than just transport; we also commit ourselves with packaging concepts, and the washing and repairing of crates in which goods are transported. We have a large storage and transshipment facility where goods are kept for a few hours before they are transported again, and we also have internal handymen who ensure that the trucks and trailers can always be on the road. A total package with which we support the customer from A to Z!

What you'll do

Your duties and responsibilities

  • performing repair and maintenance on our semi-trailers;

  • all-round repair work on equipment;

  • complying with safety instructions;

  • administrative processing and registration of the work;

  • being a point of contact for colleagues from the department;

  • maintaining a good relationship with colleagues in order to strive for good cooperation.

How you'll work

Naturally, together with your colleagues, you are an important link in the team regarding the daily progress of the work. You work from Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:30, during which you have a shifted shift one evening a week. Additionally, you will be included in the Saturday service and the breakdown service to provide technical support where necessary.

About Team Workshop

You will become part of the workshop team, a team of about 15 people. Within this team, there is room for mutual contact, a joke, and singing along nicely during your work, but in the meantime, hard work is being done to keep our fleet up to date so that many safe kilometers can be driven by the driver team!
