The role

At Memira by Bergman Clinics, we offer clients treatments that replace glasses. We are looking for an entrepreneurial optometrist who plays a crucial role in our clients' journey. You are responsible for the screening of potential clients, performing examinations, and drafting treatment plans. This challenging position is located in a small-scale and ambitious environment.

What you'll do

As an optometrist, you play an important role in the journey our clients undergo at Memira. You are often the first clinical point of contact and carry great responsibility in the preliminary examination, the screening, and the guidance of clients towards suitable treatment advice.
The process starts with the screening of submitted questionnaires. You assess which clients are eligible for a consultation and report this back to the Contact & Service Center. On-site, you then receive the clients and independently perform extensive preliminary examinations, including measurements, instilling drops, and slit lamp examinations.
During the consultation, you discuss the client's wishes and expectations and think along from their personal situation. You translate the results of your examination into clear and realistic treatment advice, with careful expectation management. You work independently, but consult with colleagues and the treating physician where necessary. Together with the physician, you ultimately establish the final treatment plan.

What are you going to do?
In this role, you are responsible for:

  • Independently conducting intake and check-up appointments

  • Drafting and administratively processing treatment plans

  • Performing lens calculations

  • Placing orders

  • Contributing ideas for process improvements within the clinic

In this position, you combine clinical expertise with personal guidance. You work with attention to quality, safety, and clear communication, thereby making an important contribution to a careful and professional treatment process.

How you can make an impact as a Refractive Optometrist

What do you need to be successful in this role?
At our company, client satisfaction is central. You are committed to an optimal experience and guidance, but also dare to set clear and professional boundaries when a treatment is not suitable or possible. Clear communication, empathy, and persuasiveness are essential in this regard.
In addition, we require:

Are you doubting whether this position at Bergman Clinics suits you? Feel free to contact us, we are happy to think along with you!

What do you get in return?

We believe that good care begins with our employees. That is why we take good care of you.

Employment conditions

This is where you will work
Memira by Bergman Clinics is, following the merger with Memira Nordics, the largest specialized provider of (refractive) ophthalmic care in the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. We offer a wide range of treatments and personal, high-quality customized care in a relaxed atmosphere. Our team consists of consultants, refractionists, optometrists, and ophthalmologists, and we work closely with our Contact & Service Center.

For this position, Arnhem is your permanent location. You will work here on Mondays and Fridays. If you want to work more than 18 hours per week, we also ask for flexibility to work at one of our other locations, preferably in Zwolle.

In the Netherlands, Memira has six clinics, of which five are intake clinics, and our clinic in Hilversum is also our treatment location with an independent treatment center, in addition to being an intake clinic. A strong sense of teamwork prevails at all our locations. Whether you are a consultant, physician, refractionist, or optometrist, together you make every day a success!
