Building and establishing the national Customs practice is a challenge that you, as a Senior Manager, dare to approach strategically. BDO's Customs practice is part of the Tax Advisory department and falls specifically under the VAT practice. Nationwide, more than 400 tax specialists work with great enthusiasm across various tax expertise areas. As a Customs specialist, you will work across locations and will receive a national role in the development and management of the customs team. Depending on your place of residence, we will determine together from which office you will perform your duties.

BDO is looking for a Senior Manager / Director with experience in the (international) Customs sector who will take the lead in the growth and establishment of the national Customs practice. As Senior Manager / Director of the Customs practice, you are responsible for:

Leading the customs specialists;
Creating connection and good cooperation between colleagues of the national customs practice and your colleagues within BDO;
Serving clients with high-quality customs advice;
Analyzing complex customs issues;
Participating in BDO's international customs network.

As Senior Manager / Director of the Customs practice, you will deal daily with complex content, international issues, and a challenging stakeholder landscape. Therefore, you need the following characteristics and competencies:

As a Senior Manager / Director, you have an active and connecting role between the many parties involved in the Customs practice. As a true connector, you know how to bring parties together and you have an eye for diverse interests;
As a strategic thinker, you oversee the entire playing field. You have ideas and build the foundation and expansion of the Customs practice in a strategic manner. You oversee what the opportunities, risks, and eventual consequences are for BDO or clients;
Your coaching leadership style aligns well with the needs of every colleague. You manage based on broad outlines and you encourage your team to think along with you;
You have excellent command of the Dutch and English languages;
You have a completed university degree (WO). You possess a related Customs education;
At least 7 years of work experience within customs advisory.
