As a Risk Analyst Capital Markets, you play an important role in identifying, analysing and interpreting risks on the European capital markets. You translate these insights into strategic and risk-based supervision, thereby directly contributing to the supervision of market infrastructures and the parties active within them. You get energy from understanding complex risks and developments. Which risks call for further investigation or immediate action? Think, for example, of issues around cybersecurity, the impact of AI on trading strategies and transparency, digital developments in the trading chain, concentration and fragmentation of market structures, sustainability and the erosion of central price formation. In doing so, you look beyond the visible symptoms. What is the underlying cause of a risk? Which developments deserve attention, and how do we translate analyses into effective supervisory measures? With your analyses and advice, you make an important contribution to strategic decision-making within Capital Markets. In this way, you help the organisation to recognise, understand and address risks in a timely manner.

Within the AFM, the supervision of the capital markets is carried out by the Capital Market Infrastructure and Transparency Supervision (KIT) and Data-Driven Capital Markets (DAK) departments. KIT consists of four teams: Trading Venues, Market Infrastructure, Prospectus & Takeover Bids and the Expertise Team. The department is characterised by short lines of communication, an informal atmosphere and a strong focus on European cooperation, innovation and data-driven supervision. The Expertise Team was established in 2025 to strengthen the department in the areas of risk analysis, data, policy and legal issues. This team consists of professionals from different disciplines such as policy, legal affairs, data analysis (DevOps) and risk analysis. As a risk analyst, you work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to innovative and risk-based supervision.
